Disney’s record-breaking sequel Moana 2 is now available to watch at home
The long-awaited sequel, Moana 2, has now set sail in our homes, having shattered box-office records with global earnings exceeding $1 billion.
Initially conceived as a series for Disney’s streaming platform, the subsequent Disney film version has proven incredibly successful. Following the pattern of other Disney productions, the movie enjoyed an extended cinema-only run initially; however, this exclusivity period has now come to an end.
If you’d prefer the theater experience, “Moana 2” is still playing in cinemas. But for those who want to watch it at home, “Moana 2” is now available for purchase or rental on Prime Video, iTunes, Microsoft Store, and other digital retailers in the UK.
In the US, you can buy or rent Moana 2 from Prime Video, iTunes and more.
Although we haven’t confirmed an exact date, it’s yet unknown when Moana 2 will become available on Disney+. It won’t synchronize with its digital release either.
In the last few years, we’ve been required to endure a wait of at least 100 days before Disney films like “Inside Out 2” and “Deadpool & Wolverine” became available on our streaming service. Given this pattern, an early March release for “Moana 2” might be likely.
At this moment, you don’t have access to the sequel on the streaming platform, but you can currently re-watch the movie titled “Moana” on Disney+ instead.
The end credits of Moana 2 hinted at a potential third installment featuring Moana, and given its impressive $1 billion earnings, it wouldn’t be shocking if Disney announced another sequel.
After the movie’s premiere, stars Dwayne Johnson and Auli’i Cravalho discussed the unexpected tattoo scene featured in the follow-up film.
As a dedicated admirer, I can’t help but express my delight in seeing such rich Indigenous history brought to life on the silver screen. And while I don’t want to give away any major spoilers, Auli’i Cravalho has subtly suggested that Moana’s role evolves throughout the film. Is she a princess? Could she be a Tautai? Or perhaps there’s something even more significant about her character that we’ll discover along the way?
You can catch Moana 2 in theaters right now! If you prefer watching it at home, it’s available for purchase or rental on Prime Video, iTunes, Microsoft Store, and other platforms in the UK.
