Disney’s Ironheart Promo Backfires: Fans Expose Bot-Driven Hype!

Is Disney using bots to hype Ironheart?

Although Ironheart from Marvel has not yet been released, it seems Disney might be employing various tactics prematurely – one of which appears to be a promotional campaign featuring artificial X bots, which is causing more curiosity than enthusiasm among viewers.

Recently, there has been an unusual influx of tweets about the upcoming premiere of Ironheart on Disney Plus, originating from various accounts, which shared strikingly identical messages. It’s quite uncanny, to say the least.

Multiple user profiles, some with names like “TechActor,” “Game Titan,” or “Web3 Grace,” posted strikingly similar messages praising Ironheart, Call Her Alex, and Season 4 of The Bear. These posts led back to the same Tom’s Guide article or comparable media reviews.

The posts typically follow this formula:

Prepare yourself, Disney Plus enthusiasts! The premiere of Marvel’s “Ironheart” is coming in June, accompanied by documentaries and additional content.

“Exciting news! Dive into Ironheart, Call Her Alex, and more streaming hits this June!”

“Marvel fans, get ready! Ironheart premieres June 24. Time to renew Disney+!”

It’s even more suspicious that similar language structures were used, old hashtags were reused, and posts were made nearly simultaneously between May 23rd and May 30th. The graphics, which often consisted of repeated promotional images of Riri Williams or generic Disney+ stock art, only serve to heighten the level of suspicion.

The whole thing reeks of either coordinated PR influence marketing or straight-up botting.

YouTube user MasterofTheTDS from Gothic Therapy was one of the earliest to point out the oddness, and he did so by creating a satirical tweet that effectively captured the robotic feel of the promotional campaign.

To add to this, the majority of tweets tend to have minimal engagement – usually less than ten likes and often no responses at all. This gives an impression that it’s not so much genuine fan interaction as it is a subtly masked promotional piece instead.

As a film enthusiast, it’s no secret to me that Disney has found itself in the spotlight over allegations of manufacturing grassroots excitement – a claim that resurfaced following their strategies for shows like ‘Ms. Marvel’ and ‘The Marvels’. Despite an overwhelmingly positive online buzz surrounding these productions, they faced challenges connecting with mainstream audiences.

Interestingly, the promotional activities might unintentionally cause more problems than solutions. Rather than generating excitement, they seem to be adding to the existing mistrust towards Disney’s advertising strategies and attracting even more attention to a show that’s already questionable due to ideological concerns and general fatigue with the brand.

In an era where genuine hype is scarce, it appears that Ironheart might be overly reliant on manufactured enthusiasm. However, discerning fans can spot this and once they do, their memory serves them well.
