Disney’s Freakier Friday trailer is officially here and there’s even more drama than last time!
In the eagerly anticipated follow-up, we find Tess (played by Jamie Lee Curtis) and Anna (portrayed by Lindsay Lohan), a couple of years after their amusing body-swap incident. However, it appears that there are further complications in store for this mother-daughter pair.
A Twist on Tuesday
In this unique take, we find Anna, now a grown woman, alongside her daughter Harper (Julia Butters) and soon-to-be step-daughter Lily (Sophia Hammons). As they navigate the complexities of blending two families, Tess and Anna realize that perhaps a second instance of lightning striking might just be possible. This is suggested by the official synopsis: “As they tackle the numerous hurdles that arise when two households become one, Tess and Anna find themselves in a situation where fate may repeat itself.
In a teaser trailer launched on YouTube, we find the opening scene featuring a mysterious prophecy delivered by a psychic, which seems strikingly accurate when it comes to Tess and Anna’s palm readings.
She remarks with intrigue, “It seems quite fascinating. Your life paths appear to have crossed previously, as if you’ve walked parallel trails.” Glancing at your hands, she adds, “A lesson was learned – one that could potentially be beneficial in the future.
The duo hastily exit the room, but barely have a moment to breathe when they sense the area quivering, foreshadowing impending danger. As the caption indicates, this occasion is proving even more unsettling than their previous experience.
The following day, imitating an iconic moment, Anna and Tess shriek and cover their faces when they see their reflections. This shock causes Tess to collapse on the floor. However, unlike a typical body-swap scenario, it seems there might be a twist – perhaps even a double switch is in progress.
In an amusing change of events, the focus shifts to the two youthful girls, and Harper suddenly finds herself in a startling revelation. “Uh-oh, not this again,” she exclaims, glancing at her own hands.
In my excitement to meet Tess and Anna, I found myself in a puzzling situation as the roles seemed reversed. To my astonishment, it turned out that Anna and Harper had traded bodies this time around, with Tess and Lily doing the same. As Tess (or should I say Lily), I let out a startled shriek and fainted once more. What a twist of fate!
As a gamer embarking on an epic quest, I found myself thrust into a thrilling montage alongside my team of three, each of us controlling unique characters with distinct abilities. We were tasked with maneuvering these diverse bodies to find our way back home. The trailer also showcased the return of Chad Michael Murray and Stephen Tobolowsky, while introducing fresh faces like Manny Jacinto and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan to the mix.
Freakier Friday will be released in cinemas on August 8, 2025.
