Disneyland Resort increases prices on most theme park tickets

As a seasoned Disneyland enthusiast who’s seen the magic unfold for over three decades, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia as I hear about the latest price hike at the Happiest Place on Earth. Don’t get me wrong; I understand the need to balance demand and optimize attendance, but it feels like the cost of a magical day keeps inching closer to the price of a small vacation home in Anaheim!

The Happiest Place on Earth is getting a little more expensive.

Beginning on Wednesday, Disneyland Resort in Anaheim is raising ticket prices for visitors aged 10 and above for most of its tickets. The cost of their lowest-priced option – a one-day, one-park pass valid for less crowded weekdays – will stay at $104. (The prices for Disneyland Resort tickets can fluctuate based on the day and consumer demand.)

On busier days and for multi-day passes to a single park, the prices are set to rise by a range of 5.9% to 6.5%. To illustrate, the most expensive one-day, one-park ticket currently stands at $194, but will go up to $206, which represents an increase of $12 or approximately 6.2%. Similarly, a two-day ticket is set to rise to $330, a jump of $20 or 6.5% from its previous price.

Disneyland representatives stated that they frequently adjust ticket prices to strike a balance between supply and demand, maximize park attendance, and reflect the worth visitors receive during their visits.

Disneyland Resort representative, Jessica Good, shared that visiting our resort is truly unique,” she stated. “We strive to offer diverse ticket packages, dining options, and accommodations, along with regular deals and discounts, so we can invite as many families as we can throughout the year.

At present, Disneyland Resort is raising the costs associated with their Magic Key annual pass plan, a membership option that’s currently only being offered for renewals and has temporarily halted new sign-ups. However, they have indicated that there will be another chance to join the program later on in this year.

The prices for each of the four passes have risen by either $100 or $125. For example, the most affordable Imagine Key will now be priced at $599, marking a rise of $100. The Enchant Key, which is the next level pass, has increased to $974, representing a hike of $125.

Magic Key pass holders get additional perks, such as being among the first to ride the new attraction Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and getting a special gift in honor of the ride’s opening. They’ll also get a bigger discount on the Lightning Lane Multi Pass, formerly known as the Genie+ line-skipping service, during certain times of the year. That service also increased in price from $30 to $32 for attendees who prebuy the perk.

Parking prices will remain the same.

Increases in pricing are occurring because Disney Company is experiencing a decline in consumer interest towards its theme park division.

For a while now, the engine that fuels the financial success of Burbank’s media and entertainment titan, Disney, has been its Experiences division. In its latest quarterly earnings report, this division reported an operating income of $2.2 billion, marking a 3% decrease compared to last year. This division encompasses Disney’s theme parks, cruise line, merchandise, and travel and leisure services like the Aulani resort and spa in Hawaii.

Disneyland representatives shared that they’ve been pouring resources into their theme parks to enhance the guest experience in various ways. This includes seasonal events, unique character encounters, diverse dining options, and an upcoming innovative queue at the Haunted Mansion, scheduled to open soon. They added that overall satisfaction among park visitors remains strong.
