Disneyland Park attendance reaches 900 million over 70 years in business

Disneyland Park has now hit 900 million visitors in the more than 70 years that it has been open.

A new documentary called “Disneyland Handcrafted” revealed the park’s most recent attendance numbers. The film, featuring historical footage from the Walt Disney Archives, will be available to stream on Disney+.

According to a recent report from the Themed Entertainment Association, Disneyland welcomed 17,836 visitors in 2024, a slight increase of 0.5% from the previous year. Like most theme parks, Disney doesn’t share its exact attendance numbers publicly.

Disney’s theme parks, cruise lines, and resorts are a major source of revenue for the company.

Last year, Disney’s tourism and leisure business – which the company calls its “experiences” segment – brought in almost 57% of its total operating income. This part of the company earned $36.2 billion in revenue during fiscal year 2025, up 6% from the year before. Operating income for this segment also rose, increasing by 8% to almost $10 billion.

Disney plans to invest $60 billion in its parks, experiences, and resorts division, highlighting how crucial this part of the business is to the company. For Disneyland in California, this could mean around $1.9 billion in new projects, including expansions to Avengers Campus and the addition of a boat ride based on the movie “Coco.” An area inspired by the world of “Avatar” is also being considered.

Since it opened 70 years ago, Disneyland has changed a lot and grown in size. While some of the original rides – like Peter Pan’s Flight, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, and the Mark Twain Riverboat – are still there, the park now focuses more on attractions based on popular movies. In 2019, it even added a whole new area dedicated to “Star Wars.”
