Disney World’s Newest Transportation Option Is Crazy Expensive, And Now I’m Really Missing The Magical Express

During a Disney World vacation, navigation plays a crucial role due to the fact that Walt Disney World covers an area twice as large as Manhattan Island. Inside Disney World, transportation is exceptionally well-developed to help you move around within the resort. Recently, a new means of getting there has been introduced, although it comes at a premium price.

Disney World’s Dedicated Minnie Van Service Is Nice, But You Get What You Pay For

Beginning this week, visitors staying at Disney World’s Deluxe resorts can enjoy the convenience of using Minnie Vans, distinctive Lyft vehicles adorned with Minnie Mouse colors, for door-to-door transportation between Orlando International Airport and your resort. Keep in mind, however, that there is a charge for this service as it costs $199…for each trip.

It’s quite expensive, paying $199 per way, considering that a typical rideshare to or from MCO will cost much less. A glance at Lyft right now reveals that the cost for both directions would only amount to approximately half of this price.

As a movie buff who’s always excited for the red-carpet treatment, let me tell you about an exceptional service I recently encountered at Disney World! This isn’t your typical airport pickup; it’s part of Disney Signature Services, which means you’re in for a VIP experience. Before the pandemic, this service was available to all hotel guests at Disney World, and now it’s extended to those staying in Club Level rooms at the resorts.

While the specific details about additional perks aren’t publicly disclosed, I’ve heard tales of extra treats and beverages being offered during these rides. Moreover, each vehicle comes equipped with up to two convertible car seats – a feature not commonly found in ride-share vehicles, but one that families visiting Disney World often require. So, buckle up and get ready for an unforgettable ride!

It seems like you might find it reasonable to spend a few hundred dollars more if you’re already staying at a Deluxe Resort in Disney World. On the other hand, I think it would be appealing to have some additional, less expensive perks added to the package. After all, even though it’s not a small sum of money, I can’t help but miss the convenience of Disney’s Magical Express that used to be available.

Disney’s Magical Express Lived Up To Its Name

It’s been quite some time – almost like an eternity – since the Magical Express by Walt Disney World was operational. This complimentary bus service was exclusively available for guests staying at any Disney World resort. Not only did it transport you directly to your hotel, but it also handled your luggage, picking them up from baggage claim and delivering them right to your room.

This free perk was incredibly advantageous. Not only did it spare you from paying, but it also allowed you to accumulate savings because you wouldn’t have to rent a car or cover other transportation costs if your entire vacation was within Disney World property. This might even encourage you to stay there exclusively.

The Magical Express transportation service provided by Disney was terminated in 2022. Now, Mears – the company that previously operated this service for Disney – offers a similar one from the same terminal, but it’s not complimentary, typically does not go straight to your resort, and excludes the luggage transfer feature.

If you have the means, the Minnie Van service seems incredibly appealing. A private, themed Disney ride to and from the airport makes for a magical beginning and end to your journey. Considering the price, I truly hope it offers an exceptional experience.
