Disney World Is Getting Ready For Tron: Ares In An A+ Way, And I’m Getting Hyped

In late 2010, it seemed like Tron: Legacy advertising was everywhere – on every street corner and TV screen. Disney put a lot of effort into promoting the science-fiction film, and stars like Jeff Bridges, Olivia Wilde, and Garrett Hedlund were hard to avoid. It was an exhilarating time for Tron fans, and that enthusiasm is returning in 2025 with Tron: Ares, which will kick off at Disney World.

The official Disney Parks account on Instagram has posted an update saying that the new aesthetics of the Grid will soon be taking over elements of Walt Disney World and China’s Shanghai Disney Resort in advance of the forthcoming release of Tron: Ares. Specifically, the TRON Lightcycle/Run at the former and the TRON Lightcycle Power Run at the latter will be getting both a notable color scheme upgrade, and fans will have the chance to preview the exciting soundtrack that has been crafted by the Oscar-winning legends of Nine Inch Nails. In plain and easy terms, I honestly wouldn’t have thought Disney parks would play music from Nine Inch Nails, but considering our unusual times, it seems fitting. Almost a year ago at D23 Expo 2024, it was revealed that the iconic industrial band would be composing music for an upcoming sci-fi film.

The job comes with a significant level of anticipation, given the considerable buzz surrounding the soundtrack of Tron: Legacy, which was created by Daft Punk. It’s hard to argue that this won’t be one of the most thrilling elements of the movie.

Starting from September 15 (for Walt Disney World Resort) and September 16 (for Shanghai Disney Resort), the latest tunes and visual enhancements on the TRON Lightcycle/Run and the TRON Lightcycle Power Run attractions will be temporarily introduced for guests to enjoy.

For a long time, the movie titled “Tron: Ares” has been in the works. It is set to continue the story of “Tron“, a series that initially proposed the concept of a digital world existing within our computer systems alongside our own reality. So far, we’ve witnessed characters trapped on a place known as The Grid and yearning to return home. However, the upcoming film will mark the first time these two realities intersect.

The movie “Ares,” helmed by director Joachim Rønning (known for “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” and “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil”), boasts a star-studded cast that includes Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Cameron Monaghan, Jeff Bridges, Arturo Castro, as well as the esteemed Jeff Bridges.

Fans of the movie Tron have eagerly anticipated the release of the next sequel for more than a decade, and now it’s almost time – premiering in cinemas nationwide on October 10th. I believe that the recent updates at both Walt Disney World Resort and Shanghai Disney Resort are merely the initial stirrings of the excitement that will be generated as we approach the event.
