According to a joint announcement made on Monday, sports streaming platform FuboTV Inc. is planning to merge with Hulu’s live television service owned by The Walt Disney Company.
The legal dispute between New York-based Fubo and Venu Sports, a joint sports service launched last year by Disney, Fox Corp., and Warner Bros. Discovery, has reached an end following a court case in the U.S. District Court. In this lawsuit, Fubo accused the proposed venture of being an unlawful “sports cartel” that violated U.S. antitrust regulations.
According to Fubo’s announcement, Disney will hold approximately 70% of the shares in the newly merged entity. The current Fubo leadership team, headed by co-founder and CEO David Gandler, will oversee the operations of this combined company.
The deal is subject to approval by regulators and Fubo shareholders.
As a passionate cinephile, I’m beyond excited to team up with Disney to establish a streaming service that truly prioritizes the consumer. In essence, we’re merging the potent forces of Fubo and Hulu + Live TV brands, creating an unparalleled platform that caters to our promise of offering more choice and flexibility to consumers.

Hollywood Inc.
The company that owns TNT cable network claims that the NBA violated their existing agreement by reportedly failing to grant permission for a matching bid from Amazon, according to their assertion.
Initially, this merged organization will boast approximately 6.2 million subscribers and introduce an innovative lineup of sports and news programming. This package will feature a collection of ESPN channels as well as the ABC broadcasting network.
The merged entity will handle separate negotiations on distribution deals for Hulu + Live TV and Fubo TV services, without Disney’s involvement in these discussions.
Fubo is getting $220 million and a $145-million term loan next year as part of the transaction.
Venu was introduced primarily to offer sports enthusiasts an affordable option for subscribing to multiple channels showing live sports, as opposed to the pricier traditional pay-TV packages.
Apart from ESPN, this platform was designed to broadcast channels not only from Fox and its sports networks but also from Turner channels owned by Warner Bros. Discovery.
