Disney names Asad Ayaz as chief marketing and brand officer

Okay, so Disney just made a big move! Asad Ayaz, the guy who spearheaded some really cool marketing for things like Disneyland’s 70th and movies like “Zootopia 2” and the new live-action “Lilo & Stitch,” is now Disney’s Chief Marketing and Brand Officer. Basically, he’s in charge of getting everyone hyped about all things Disney, and honestly, based on his past work, I think they’re in good hands!

After 21 years with the company, he most recently led both branding and marketing for Walt Disney Studios, serving as their first chief brand officer and president of marketing.

Ayaz will head up the marketing and branding teams at the Burbank-based media and entertainment company. He’ll be working directly with Disney CEO Bob Iger, and also with the leaders of Disney’s movie and television studios, theme parks, and ESPN to oversee marketing for each of those areas.

According to a statement released Wednesday by Iger, the company needs a single leader to maintain a consistent brand image and provide a smooth experience for customers across all products and services. He believes the newly created Chief Marketing and Brand Officer position is essential for this, and Asad is ideally suited for the role.

Ayaz will now be in charge of all of Disney’s marketing worldwide, covering areas like social media, online strategy, and relationships with partners and franchisees, according to the company.

Ayaz has a strong background in Disney marketing, having previously worked on campaigns for Disney’s 100th anniversary and the growth of its D23 fan club. He also led marketing efforts for Disney+, promoting popular shows like “The Mandalorian” and “WandaVision,” as well as the launch of Taylor Swift’s “The End of an Era” on the platform.
