Disney Just Unveiled a Shocking New Version of Darth Vader in Zootopia 2 – You Won’t Believe It!
It’s incredible to witness the new interpretation of the legendary Star Wars character, Darth Vader, thanks to Zootopia 2, which I hadn’t anticipated. Since Disney took over Lucasfilm in 2012, they have been expanding the Star Wars universe rapidly, using the intellectual property for theme parks, merchandise, films, video games, TV shows, and more. The impact has been remarkable across multiple platforms, with Darth Vader remaining a significant figure in various media outlets.
Due to his distinctive appearance, rhythmic breathing, and deep voice, it’s seldom easy to overlook Darth Vader. His knack for dominating the screen and inspiring fear in those around him certainly doesn’t help in going unnoticed. It’s no wonder that Disney and Lucasfilm have found various means to continue featuring him on-screen, be it live-action roles in series like Obi-Wan Kenobi or Ahsoka. Such projects are where we tend to expect Darth Vader to appear. However, Disney has recently revealed a new version of the character that I never imagined could exist.
Zootopia 2’s Teaser Trailer Includes Darth Vader
… As A Zebra
When I initially began viewing the first trailer for Zootopia 2, “Star Wars” was the furthest thing from my thoughts. However, at the 51-second mark, some of Darth Vader‘s most recognizable features surfaced, leaving me completely taken aback. The helmet, cape, chest plate with red and blue buttons, and the signature red lightsaber were all present. The main variation? Now, Darth Vader is a zebra.
It would be quite unexpected for Darth Vader to appear in any capacity within Zootopia 2, given the distinct universes of Star Wars and Zootopia. However, if Darth Vader were to make an appearance, it could serve as a delightful Easter egg. This isn’t suggesting that Darth Vader has transformed into a force-wielding evil zebra in the Zootopia universe, although that idea is intriguing. Instead, this hints at the possibility that Star Wars exists within this universe, under a different name, perhaps with an animal twist – a playful nod to the animal theme of Zootopia. So, it’s not Darth Vader becoming a character in Zootopia, but rather a zebra dressed as Darth Vader appearing in the Zootopia universe.
Zebra Darth Vader In Zootopia 2 Continues A Disney Star Wars Trend
Disney Loves To Use Star Wars Elsewhere
In the sequel to Zootopia, one character dons a Darth Vader costume, which isn’t the first time Disney has borrowed Star Wars imagery from outside Lucasfilm. Marvel films are recognized for their frequent Star Wars references, though they’ve become less common in more recent productions. Additionally, several Pixar animated movies incorporate elements of George Lucas’ Star Wars universe, such as a Mandalorian jetpack appearing in Lightyear.
It’s not the first time Walt Disney Animation Studios has incorporated some elements from the Star Wars universe, before they produce an official animated feature for the franchise. In the movie “Ralph Breaks The Internet,” there were numerous references to Star Wars characters and elements, such as R2-D2, X-wings, TIE fighters, First Order Stormtroopers, and even Anthony Daniels appearing as C-3PO in a cameo. This is just one example of how Disney has seamlessly integrated the Star Wars intellectual property into other brands. Additionally, during the climax of “Free Guy,” starring Ryan Reynolds, he used a lightsaber.
Is Zebra Darth Vader Even Going To Be In Zootopia 2?
He May Be A Marketing Stunt Only
In the strange spectacle of a zebra donning Darth Vader’s attire, it remains uncertain from the trailer for Zootopia 2 whether this character, whom I’ll endearingly call “Darth Zebra,” will actually appear in the film. The footage seems to be short clips that seem more tailored for the teaser than they do integral to the movie plot. With no dialogue provided, these visuals come across as a series of seemingly unrelated images rather than hinting at a coherent storyline. If the intention behind this teaser is merely to inform audiences that Zootopia 2 is on its way without disclosing any details about the story, then it has certainly achieved its purpose.
It’s possible that character Darth Zebra won’t feature prominently or even appear at all in the upcoming movie, and if he does, his role could be quite small. The scene showing main characters dancing might not play a significant part in the storyline. However, if Darth Zebra does make an appearance before “Zootopia 2” hits the screens, this could be his moment to take center stage.
