Disney has unveiled the first official trailer for the upcoming movie called “Tron: Ares“. This is the third installment of the “Tron” series, which will be out 4 decades after the initial science fiction film premiered in cinemas in 1982. The previous sequel, “Tron: Legacy“, was released as recently as 2010.
In this upcoming sequel, Jared Leto and Jeff Bridges rejoin the cast, with Bridges reprising his character Kevin Flynn, a computer programmer and video game creator who gets sucked into a mainframe computer’s software world. Leto plays Ares, a digital entity sent from the virtual realm to the physical world. The trailer offers fans a sneak peek of the ensuing action and chaos as the digital world intersects with reality. The scene opens with a thrilling chase between a renegade program and the police, but the cop cars quickly meet their match when the light cycle cuts it in two. Although Kevin Flynn doesn’t appear on screen, his voice can be heard at the end, warning Leto’s character, Ares, “You’re ready? Because there’s no turning back.
In addition to Leto, the movie features Evan Peters, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Cameron Monaghan, Sarah Desjardins, Hasan Minhaj, Arturo Castro, and Gillian Anderson. Notably, Peters’ character, Julian Dillinger, shares the last name with the initial antagonist from the first film, David Warner’s Ed Dillinger. The upcoming Tron sequel, titled Tron: Ares, hits theaters on October 10. Check out the official trailer above.
