Disney+ debuts new footage from Goosebumps: The Vanishing and Alien: Earth

As a seasoned gamer and sci-fi enthusiast who has battled my fair share of virtual Xenomorphs, I can’t help but feel a shiver of excitement down my spine at the prospect of Earth being invaded by these terrifying creatures in the upcoming series, Alien: Earth. The idea of a television show set within the Alien universe, especially one that delves into the past before the 1979 classic, is nothing short of exhilarating.

Xenomorphs, a species from the Alien franchise, have made their debut on Earth for the very first time. Meanwhile, it seems David Schwimmer is quite insistent that people avoid entering his basement, as suggested in the recently unveiled sneak peek of Goosebumps: The Vanishing, released by Disney+ and offering a glimpse into their 2025 programming lineup.

In a fresh twist for the enduring “Alien” franchise, initiated by Ridley Scott’s 1979 masterpiece, this new offering, titled “Alien: Earth,” represents the first television series embedded in the science fiction world and also signifies the extraterrestrial creatures’ arrival on our planet. What sets it apart is that the events unfold three decades before the 1979 film.

In the Alien franchise, could there be a possibility that Xenomorphs are still lurking about somewhere on Earth? Or perhaps the storyline concludes with their threat being neutralized? Only time will tell as we eagerly await the premiere of Noah Hawley’s series on FX next year to discover the answer.

The brief footage teased in the video embedded above doesn’t give much away beyond showing a glimpse of star Sydney Chandler, who plays a Poor Things-like character named Wendy, that Deadline describes as a woman “with the body of an adult, but the brain and consciousness of a child.” The narration also tells us that a returning ship carries “collected specimens from a faraway moon, monsters.”

From the perspective of “Goosebumps”, there’s a scene where a monster attempts to seize a young lady, and Schwimmer’s character alerts everyone that the basement is off-limits.

The Vanishing is the second season of Disney+’s live-action supernatural horror series, Goosebumps, which is adapted from R.L. Stine’s popular book series. Unlike the original 1995 TV series where each episode focused on a separate story, this new show tells a continuous narrative throughout each season to create a serialized anthology. In the upcoming second season, we follow teenage siblings as they investigate the mysterious disappearance of five other teenagers that took place in 1994.

The movie titled “Goosebumps: The Vanishing” is scheduled to air on January 10, 2025. As for the film “Alien: Earth”, it currently doesn’t have a set release date, but indications suggest that it might be premiering sometime in early 2025.
