The latest Disney+ series brought back a large group of villains from every time period, different types of media, and all over the Star Wars galaxy. LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past mixes everything from Star Wars history into a unique and unusual version of the famous sci-fi world, where old rivals become allies and friends turn into enemies.
Because the show features settings from many different universes, Pieces of the Past can include characters from anywhere within the established story-even obscure ones. This allows for appearances from highly requested characters like Darth Jar Jar, Revan, and the respected Cal Kestis, giving fans what they’ve been hoping to see.
This sets the stage for a grand Star Wars story that reimagines the entire saga. The narrative centers on two brothers, Sig and Dev Greebling, who are sensitive to the Force. They journey through this newly blended Star Wars universe, striving to stop the wicked schemes of the antagonist, Solitus.

Maul

Sam Witwer is back as Darth Maul for LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past.
Darth Maul is looking remarkably stylish in the LEGO-style adventure taking place in the interdimensional prison, the Force Hold. He’s wearing a new parka after a tense battle with Solitus.
He ultimately sides with Sig and Dev in their fight against the emerging danger that spans multiple universes. Throughout much of the story, he expresses himself by singing to the melody of his famous “Duel of the Fates” theme song.
Darth Rey

Although Darth Rey was only hinted at in the Sequel Trilogy, fans are now able to see the Sith take on the famous character in the new LEGO Star Wars series.
I remember when Darth Rey first showed up – she was one of Dev’s apprentices, part of the Sith Breaker program, just like Jar Jar! It was a shock when she turned against her master at the end of the first season, though. Now, she’s showing up on the doorstep of the Landolorian (which is a really cool mix of Lando Calrissian and Din Djarin, by the way) with a mission: to track down Sig Greebling and his crew.
As Darth Rey changes allegiances during the climactic ending of Pieces of the Past, she ultimately returns to being a villain, leaving on her own and potentially becoming the antagonist in a future third Rebuild the Galaxy installment.
Jedi Master Palpatine

Heading up the Rebuild the Galaxy‘s version of the Jedi Council, which spans multiple universes, is Jedi Master Palpatine – surprisingly! This is a reimagining of the famous Star Wars villain, but in this version, he never turned to the dark side and instead guides the Jedi in their battle against Solitus.
I’m so excited for Pieces of the Past! It looks like Palpatine is back, and this time, Sig really needs the Jedi Council’s help. Apparently, they’re facing a completely new enemy – something not from this world – and the Jedi are their only hope to take it down!
Jedi Vader

Jedi Vader is a new addition to the Jedi Council, shown wearing a completely white version of his iconic Vader armor.
In Pieces of the Past, this version of the character finally experiences the family reunion he’s longed for, reconnecting with his past love, Padmé Amidala, and his two children, Luke and Leia, who are both strong in the Force.
Jedi Dooku

The popular Sith lord portrayed by Christopher Lee is back in Pieces of the Past, this time as a Jedi version of Dooku from across the multiverse.
This character is a new addition to this world’s Jedi Council, and explores an alternate timeline where Dooku never turned to the dark side.
Jedi Jabba

Jedi Jabba the Hutt is a particularly funny reimagining of a classic Star Wars villain in Rebuild the Galaxy. He’s exactly what you’d expect-the massive, slug-like Jabba-but with a twist: he wields two green lightsabers.
During the show’s climactic battle against Solitus and his robot army, he skillfully uses his sabers to create a diversion. This allows Sig and Dev to enter Solitus’ fortress and confront the primary antagonist.
General Grievous

As a huge LEGO and Rebuild the Galaxy fan, I was shocked to learn that General Grievous is the last Jedi Council member! Seriously, the four-armed Separatist cyborg is actually fighting *for* the good guys in this new series. It’s a wild twist!
He pledged his support and weaponry to the fight against Solitus, joining his colleagues on the Jedi Council. He followed the direction of Jedi Master Palpatine, who was leading the charge. This commitment solidified their alliance against the common enemy.
Greedo

Greedo unexpectedly appears again in Pieces of the Past, following his quick appearance in Season 1. In this version of the story, Greedo actually ‘shot first,’ and ended up with Princess Leia-not Han Solo, who is portrayed as the villain in Season 1.
In the last episode of Season 2, Greedo unexpectedly appears and once more declares his feelings for Leia, even going so far as to propose to the Rebel leader.
Kylo Ren

Considering characters such as Rose Tico and Rey Skywalker appear in some capacity in LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past, it’s not surprising that Kylo Ren also has a scene on the desert planet.
This character makes a cameo in the show’s last episode, joining Ahsoka’s team for the climactic battle against Solitus’ forces. Their arrival is a game-changer, shifting the momentum of the fight.
Zam Wessell

Zam Wessell (many fans remember her as the bounty hunter trying to assassinate Padmé Amidala in Attack of the Clones) is back in the Star Wars galaxy with the new animated streaming series.
She is also among the pirate crew on Queen Amidala’s ship.
The Other Big Antagonists In LEGO Star Wars: Pieces of the Past
Darth Dev

Darth Dev, played by Tony Revolori (known for his role as Spider-Man in the MCU), is a key character in the Rebuild the Galaxy series. He’s the sibling-and rival-of the hero, Sig Greebling, often called the Sith Breaker.
Originally, Dev was the main antagonist in Season 1 of Rebuild the Galaxy. However, he’s begun to change, becoming more compassionate and teaming up with his brother, Sig – a skilled Force Builder – to fight against the cruel Solitius.
Initially, he’s hesitant to embrace Sig as family, but as the new season progresses, Dev and his affectionately nicknamed “Siggy” become incredibly close, like two peas in a pod-only they’re traveling among the stars.
Darth Jar Jar

For over 20 years, Darth Jar Jar was just a well-known meme within the Star Wars fan community. Now, he’s officially joined the Star Wars universe with his first appearance in Season 1 of LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy.
He initially appears as a Sith apprentice to the mysterious Darth Dev. However, he later escapes Dev’s control, rejects his teachings, and joins forces with other apprentices to independently pursue and capture Sig.
Darth Jar Jar received a significant upgrade in Pieces of the Past. After losing the lower portion of his body during the first season of the show, he was fitted with spider-like droid legs.
Darth Revan

Darth Revan is a name that’s been well-known among Star Wars fans for a long time, largely because he was the main villain in the popular video game, Knights of the Old Republic.
This character appears in the latest installment with Darth Obi-Wan Kenobi, pursuing Sig and the team as they commit a risky error escaping from the Force Hold.
Darth Kit Fisto

Darth Kit Fisto, another apprentice returning in Pieces of the Past, is a sinister Sith Lord reimagining of the well-known Jedi hero from the Star Wars prequel films.
The Nautolan Sith Breaker initially fights with Darth Rey, Jar Jar, and others against Sig and Dev as they try to defeat Solitus. However, he ultimately joins forces with the two brothers to combat the danger that threatens multiple dimensions.
Darth Rose Tico

First appearing as a Resistance bombardier in The Last Jedi, Rose Tico takes a surprising turn in the latest LEGO series, now known as Darth Rose Tico.
As a big fan of the series, I’ve been following Rose’s story closely. She’s one of those characters who was clearly wronged by Darth Dev, and now she’s holding a serious grudge against her former master. By the end of Pieces of the Past, it’s pretty clear they’re setting her up as a possible villain for Season 3, alongside threats like Darth Rey and even, surprisingly, Darth Jar Jar! It’s really exciting to think about where they’ll take her character.
Darth Nubs

Darth Nubs is a villainous version of the Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures character with the same name. This male Pooch, who has blue hair, doesn’t talk much, but he’s a skilled fighter. He battles with the other Sith Breakers against Solitus in the latest animated series.
He, too, was once one of Darth Dev’s apprentices, but that is no longer the case.
Darth Jyn Erso

Following her role as the hero in Star Wars: Rogue One, where she obtained the plans for the Death Star and secured the Rebellion’s future, Jyn Erso takes on the role of a villain in Pieces of the Past.
Known as Darth Jyn Erso, she’s introduced in the show’s premiere as the creator of the latest Death Star. Sig and his companions have been taken captive and delivered there by the Landolorian.
Darth Jym the Jawa

Darth Jym the Jawa is a character who appears in Pieces of the Past, within the new Death Star. He’s seen standing with Darth Jyn Erso as she activates the station’s powerful laser capable of destroying planets.
Jym the Jawa is a unique villain originally designed by director Chris Buckley. He was created to be a playable character in the Star Wars Table Top RPG back in the early 2000s.
Jedi Cad Bane

Cad Bane, a villain from LEGO Star Wars, is portrayed with a slightly more heroic side in the new series. He swaps his signature brown clothing for a white version of the same style.
He has a mostly supporting role in the new series, appearing alongside the other Jedi Council members during the show’s massive, multiversal battle. He arrives on the scene with them as part of the larger conflict.
Jedi IG-88

One of the last Jedi Council members of this newly formed galaxy is the Jedi IG-88.
Within the established Star Wars universe, IG-88 is known as one of the most intimidating bounty hunters in the galaxy. However, in the story Pieces of the Past, he unexpectedly joins forces with Sig and Dev to battle the Sith Breaker armies of Solitus.
Asajj Ventress

I spotted a quick cameo from Asajj Ventress in the new animated series! It’s a really brief appearance – seriously, blink and you’ll miss it – in Episode 1 of Pieces of the Past. She doesn’t have a huge role, but it was cool to see her pop up.
Beginning the series, she pursues Dav on Dathomir after the events of Season 1, experiencing several Force visions alongside her ‘Daysisters‘ (a mystical iteration of the Nightsisters).
C-3PO

C-3PO returns to the Star Wars universe in Pieces of the Past, surprisingly playing the role of a villain against Sig and Dev Greebling. He’s part of a group of bad droid pirates who work for Pirate Queen Amidala.
When Sig and his companions sought assistance from the pirates, they were captured by 3PO and Amidala’s team and given a death sentence – delivered through a funny jab at the later Star Wars Sequel Trilogy.
R2-D2

Also standing alongside Pirate Queen Amidala in Pieces of the Past is R2-D2.
This brave and resourceful astromech droid received some enhancements for his work with Amidala’s team, posing a threat to Sig and others with a variety of weapons concealed under his metal exterior.
Nien Nunb

For decades, Nien Nunb has been a beloved character in Star Wars. He originally appeared as a Rebel pilot in the Original Trilogy and has made several other appearances throughout the franchise over the years.
He appears as a villainous pirate who is part of Queen Amidala’s team, and he’s determined to help Sig and his companions cross the Snoke Pit.
Darth Obi-Wan Kenobi

Darth Obi-Wan Kenobi reimagines Ewan McGregor’s well-known Jedi Master as a Sith Lord. He’s characterized by striking red eyes, a red lightsaber, and dark clothing, clearly showing his commitment to the dark side.
He makes a quick appearance in the show, showing up alongside Darth Revan as they pursue Sig, forcing him to leave the Force Hold.
