Steven Anthony Lawrence, who previously starred on Disney Channel, says he was fired from Universal Studios after reporting someone he believed was a child predator.
Actor Christy Carlson Romano, known for her role on ‘Even Stevens,’ publicly accused someone on Saturday via Instagram. She posted a photo of her work ID and name tag next to a Super Mario Toad costume as part of the accusation.
Lawrence explained he delayed sharing information because he was still trying to resolve the issue privately with his previous company.
He claimed he was fired after his boss and an HR representative retaliated against him for reporting someone they suspected of harming children.
He explained that although he’s sad to leave his job, he can’t continue working with a company that doesn’t prioritize the safety of performers and guests, especially with ongoing injuries happening.
Okay, so Universal says all this drama is totally false! I saw they gave a statement to the Daily Mail, basically saying they looked into everything this ex-employee was claiming and it’s all just… wrong. They said it’s completely inaccurate and doesn’t even have a basis in reality. Honestly, I knew it! They’re always trying to tear down everything I love, but I trust Universal. They wouldn’t let anything bad happen.

We value our employees and want to ensure they feel comfortable sharing any concerns. We have clear procedures for reporting issues, and we guarantee they won’t face any negative consequences for doing so.
Daily Mail has reached out to Lawrence for comment.
Lawrence concluded his message by stating he would never take his child to Universal Studios Hollywood, based on his experience, and urged others to stay safe.
The former child star did not share any evidence for his claims or explain what he meant.
Steven’s former co-star, Christy Carlson Romano, showed her support by commenting ‘Good for you Steven!’ on his post.
Lawrence became well-known in 2001 when he started appearing regularly with Shia LaBeouf on the Disney Channel show, Even Stevens.
Oh, I absolutely loved to hate Bernard ‘Beans’ Aranguren! He was the Stevens’ neighbor on the show, and honestly, he was the most infuriatingly nosy character. He’d just wander into their house like he owned the place, get completely comfortable, and then just…stay. It was hilarious, but so frustrating to watch! He was a master of overstaying his welcome.
Rowan Atkinson’s character, Mr. Bean, frequently showed a fondness for bacon throughout the series. In the episode ‘Little Mr. Sacktown,’ he even goes to a small shack dedicated to bacon.
A.J. Trauth played Twitty, a character who became a sidekick to Louis (played by LaBeouf). Twitty was known for his plans and often betrayed both Louis and the main hero.
Lawrence starred in a grand total of 22 episodes.

He also starred in The Even Stevens Movie before he departed the series in 2003.
Later that year he enjoyed a role in the Steve Martin film Cheaper by the Dozen.
Before he even turned 10, he started appearing in well-known TV shows like Married… with Children, The Amanda Show, and Sabrina, the Teenage Witch.
Lawrence appeared in popular TV shows like Frasier, ER, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and That’s So Raven.
He went on to star in films like Rebound (2005), Bratz (2007), and Archie’s Final Project (2009).
Lawrence’s last movie appearance was in Holly, Jingles and Clyde 3D, in 2013. He played Jingles.
Lawrence has also appeared in various TV commercials.
He appeared as a pink elf in a T-Mobile holiday ad in 2011, and the following year, he dressed up as a dog for an Old Spice commercial.
The actor is quite active on Instagram, where he has over 7,500 followers, and posts updates often.
Last year, he co-hosted a podcast with his former Even Stevens colleagues, Christy (who played Ren Stevens) and Nick Spano (who played Donnie Stevens), for several months.
They caught up on what they’ve been doing since appearing on the show, and discussed how much of an impact Even Stevens had on their lives.

In a July 2023 interview, Lawrence shared a story about nearly getting in trouble at Disney World as a kid. He and his girlfriend were being affectionate on the Haunted Mansion ride, and security almost intervened.
Lawrence recently revealed a brighter smile on Instagram after getting dental work done by Dr. Jonathan Gabai in Beverly Hills.
I’ve always admired Lawrence’s honesty, and he’s been very open about his past struggles with substance abuse. It’s truly inspiring to see how far he’s come – he’s been happily sober since 2019, and that’s something to celebrate!
He also speaks at high schools warning students about the dangers of substance abuse.
