Even though Disney has grown by adding Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, and 20th Century Studios productions, it continues to prioritize its classic animated movies. Upcoming animated films from Disney are set to hit movie theaters soon, offering an exciting lineup for fans.

After the tremendous box office successes of films like “Inside Out 2” (the top-grossing movie of 2025) and “Moana 2” (earning over a billion dollars), Disney’s future lineup of animated productions predominantly consists of sequels from established franchises. Yet, the company is also introducing fresh concepts that have the potential to grow into their own franchise series in the future.

Disney Studios recently announced key details about their future movie lineup, confirming the primary animated films they will be releasing over the coming years.

Elio – June 20, 2025

In a fresh venture, Pixar – renowned for creating timeless masterpieces such as The Incredibles and Cars – presents Elio, its latest original production. This movie follows the tale of a solitary young boy who finds his dream of being taken by aliens becoming reality, only to discover they think he is Earth’s commander. In 2025, Elio marks Pixar’s sole release and features the vocal talents of Zoe Saldana, Yonas Kibreab, Jameela Jamil, and Brad Garrett.

Zootopia 2 – November 26, 2025

In a return to the vibrant, animal-populated universe eight years on, I found myself revisiting Zootopia in its much-anticipated sequel. The dynamic duo, Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman), are once again at the forefront, this time pursuing a cunning new adversary, Gary De’Snake, played by Ke Huy Quan. Yet, whispers in the movie-going community suggest that Gary might not be the sole antagonist Judy and Nick will confront in Zootopia 2.

Hoppers – May 6, 2026

A fresh production hailing from the creative team at Pixar is titled “Hoppers“, a tale that explores the intriguing concept: what if humans could converse with animals? When researchers uncover a method to transfer human minds into mechanical creatures, dubbed “hopping”, an animal enthusiast named Mabel decides to employ this groundbreaking technology to unravel the mysteries of the animal kingdom. Directed by Daniel Chong and boasting the vocal talents of Jon Hamm and Piper Curda, “Hoppers” promises an exciting journey into a world where humans and animals communicate seamlessly.

Toy Story 5 – June 19, 2026

Following the massive success of “Toy Story 4,” which broke franchise records, it was only a matter of time before another sequel emerged, despite the fourth film seemingly marking the end for a significant Toy Story character. The upcoming “Toy Story 5” will delve into the theme of toys versus technology as the characters strive to remain popular during playtime amidst the rise of new tech gadgets that are capturing children’s interest.

Ice Age 6 – December 18, 2026

With the Disney Corporation now encompassing it due to the purchase of 20th Century Fox, Ice Age 6 will mark the debut of a sequel from the renowned animated series under this new union, and it will be the first installment not produced by Blue Sky Studios, which ceased operations in 2021.

In the upcoming sixth installment of the Ice Age series, it remains a mystery what major event will serve as the central plot. However, it has been confirmed that Ray Romano, Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Simon Pegg, and Queen Latifah will once again voice the adorable band of prehistoric characters.

Frozen 3 – November 24, 2027

Disney isn’t planning to end the Frozen saga, as they are developing a third movie. Details about Frozen 3 and its storyline are scarce at this point, but some concept art suggests there might be a new antagonist. Disney Animation’s top creative officer, Jared Bush, hinted that the upcoming film will offer something unexpected to viewers.

In addition to these animated movies, Disney also has several significant blockbusters to keep an eye out for in its upcoming film lineup.
