Disney alum Matt Prokop’s mugshot REVEALED… after his ex broke silence on star’s child pornography arrest

Following his arrest on Christmas Eve, a mugshot of Matt Prokop has been released. He is facing serious charges related to child pornography.

A new photo published by the Daily Mail shows the 35-year-old former Disney star looking at the camera with a Victoria County booking board visible in front of him.

The actor, famous for his role in movies like High School Musical 3, was sporting a beard and a patterned sweater.

Prokop is being held without bail at a jail in Victoria County in Texas. 

He was first arrested for breaking the rules of his release from a previous case filed earlier this year, and for trying to avoid and fighting against arrest.

However, on December 31st, authorities obtained a warrant and added a charge of possessing or distributing child pornography.

Prokop’s ex-girlfriend has since broken silence on his arrest late last month. 

Speaking to the Daily Mail recently, his ex-partner shared that she continues to deal with the lasting effects of years of abuse.

‘Right now, I’m taking time to heal privately, with the support of close friends and family.

‘Taking this time does not lessen the seriousness or harm of his actions.

‘As more information comes out, I ask that all victims be treated with care, dignity, and respect.’

Prokop reconnected with his ex-partner online when they were both younger, but they didn’t start dating until she was an adult. They got engaged in January 2024.

I’ve been following the recent claims surrounding Prokop, and when the Daily Mail contacted his team for a statement, they didn’t get an immediate response. It’s not uncommon in situations like these for people to take some time before addressing things publicly, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens.

In May 2024, Prokop was arrested in his home state of Texas following reports of assaulting his girlfriend.

Police reported that the couple was enjoying a weekend trip when Prokop’s girlfriend claimed he had physically assaulted her.

About an hour later, officers went to investigate a separate disturbance and discovered Prokop and his girlfriend at the scene.

The investigation revealed that Prokop allegedly pushed the woman and hit her head, causing injuries serious enough to lead to his arrest.

Prokop reportedly tried to pull away from officers and run as they arrested him.

Before this happened, his ex-girlfriend and former co-star on Disney, Sarah Hyland, who is now 35 years old, had already obtained a restraining order against him.

The actors began dating in 2008 and were together until 2014. They first met while auditioning for ‘High School Musical 3: Senior Year,’ where he had a role as Jimmie.

He acted alongside the actress in a 2012 episode of Modern Family, and also appeared in the films Geek Charming (2011), Struck by Lightning (2012), and April Apocalypse (2013).

Prokop was also credited as a producer on her 2015 movie See You In Valhalla.

Hyland said Prokop was verbally and physically abusive throughout their four-year relationship. She ended things with help from her Modern Family co-star, Julie Bowen, who played her onscreen mother.

In court documents, she described an event where Prokop supposedly forced her against a car and choked her.

Hyland stated in court papers that the man held him so tightly he couldn’t breathe or talk, and he feared for his life.

In August 2014, after entering rehab, Prokop’s treatment center contacted someone to share concerns about his mental health upon release and suggested obtaining a restraining order.

I couldn’t believe it when I heard! She had to get a restraining order against him in September, and then, thankfully, it became permanent just a month later. It meant he had to stay at least 300 feet away from her and even her poor dog! I was so relieved she was taking steps to protect herself. It was terrifying to think about what he might do, and that order felt like a huge weight lifted. Seriously, 300 feet… he couldn’t even get close.

When asked for a response to Hyland’s claims, Prokop’s team didn’t offer any comments to Daily Mail or any other news organizations.

The actress revealed in October 2024 that she continues to be emotionally affected by a previous abusive relationship.

She talked about her experience as a domestic violence survivor during an interview with Variety.

Hyland emphasized the need to openly discuss domestic violence, noting that survivors can experience long-term PTSD.

However, the Modern Family alum did not name the boyfriend who hit her at the time.

It lingers in that painful part of yourself, where you constantly blame yourself, believing you should have acted differently, left earlier, or spoken up.

Honestly, she gets it. Like, at a certain point, I just want to move on. I’m so over constantly dissecting everything! She said it best – you reach a time where you just want it to be over and done with, and that’s all there is to it. It’s so relieving to hear her say that, you know? I just want peace!

I fully grasp how someone can disconnect from their feelings. I used to struggle with that myself, but I thought I’d dealt with it…until something reminds me that old part of me is still there, and I realize I hadn’t fully healed.

Hyland acknowledged that the emotional impact of the experience might never completely disappear for anyone involved.

The experience left a lasting emotional mark on her, but she focuses on healing and self-love rather than dwelling on the pain or trying to forget it.

Hyland pointed out that domestic violence has been a long-standing issue that people haven’t openly discussed for centuries. He believes communities haven’t shared enough information about it.

I believe that open discussion about this topic will help more people—women, men, and anyone experiencing abuse—feel comfortable sharing their experiences with family and friends.

I’ve learned that abusers often try to cut you off from your friends and family right away – it’s their first move. They do this to take away your support system, to leave you feeling alone and vulnerable. It’s something I always warn people to watch out for, because that community is so important.
