‘The Blackening’

Under the guidance of director Tim Story, the movie titled “The Blackening” offers a chilling blend of horror and comedy with a unique twist. A group of African American friends embark on a weekend retreat for Juneteenth at a secluded cabin. On their first night, the power fails, revealing an adversary with a score to settle who threatens to exterminate them all, unless they participate in a spooky board game. However, it quickly becomes apparent that playing the game won’t ensure everyone’s safety. By employing their street smarts and drawing upon horror movie knowledge, these friends will strive to survive. With its intentional subversion of genre conventions and bitingly sarcastic exploration of who might be the first to perish if all characters are Black, “The Blackening” promises a riotously gory good time. ‘Ticket to Paradise’

The film titled Ticket to Paradise features Julia Roberts and George Clooney as Georgia and David, a once-married pair now estranged and harboring deep animosity towards each other. However, for the sake of their daughter and to prevent her from repeating their past mistakes, they put aside their differences and team up. As protectors of their child’s happiness, they journey to Bali, Indonesia, with the intention of halting an upcoming wedding ceremony.

In their attempts to ruin the wedding, the persistent bickering between them unexpectedly resurrects old feelings that they had for each other, leaving them both taken aback. This film featuring Roberts and Clooney’s charming repartee is one fans won’t want to miss. Ticket to Paradise will be available for streaming on June 9.

‘Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret.’

Titled after Judy Blume’s beloved 1970 novel of the same name, “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret” follows a young girl named Margaret (Abby Ryder Fortson) who transfers from bustling New York City to suburban Farbrook, New Jersey at the onset of adolescence. Raised without religious ties due to her Christian mother and Jewish father, Margaret embarks on a journey of self-discovery when a school project encourages her to delve into both faiths. As she grapples with life’s complexities, friendship, and the changes in her body, Margaret finds solace in the compassionate care of her mother, Barbara (Rachel McAdams), and grandmother, Sylvia (Kathy Bates). “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret” will be available for streaming starting June 11.

‘Drive-Away Dolls’

Under the direction of Ethan Coen, the film titled “Drive-Away Dolls” is a humorous crime tale that follows two women, Jamie (Margaret Qualley) and Marian (Geraldine Viswanathan), both eager for new beginnings. Jamie is a free spirit who’s been left disgruntled following her breakup with her girlfriend, while Marian is more reserved but craves some relaxation. They decide impulsively to hit the road towards Tallahassee, but their journey takes an unexpected turn when they unknowingly pick up a car belonging to a band of bumbling criminals, causing all sorts of chaos along the way.

Currently holding the coveted package, the mentioned criminals have stumbled into a tricky situation. The movie features acting by Beanie Feldstein, Colman Domingo, Pedro Pascal, Bill Camp, and Matt Damon. “Drive-Away Dolls” will be available for streaming on June 12.

‘Migration’

In a lively and comical animated series titled “Migration,” we follow the Mallard family – Pam (Elizabeth Banks), Mack (Kumail Nanjiani), Dax (Caspar Jennings) and Gwen (Tresi Gazal), who for the first time, decide to travel south. Despite some reservations from their overprotective father, they embark on an unforgettable adventure. However, their journey doesn’t go as planned when they find themselves in New York City instead of their intended destination. Along the way, they encounter various bird friends who aid them in navigating the bustling city. Despite the unexpected detour, the Mallards have an incredible experience and learn valuable lessons along the way. “Migration” will be available for streaming on June 19th.
