The stunning movie starring Saoirse Ronan, titled “The Outrun“, which hit theatres last fall, can now be streamed on Netflix in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
According to Amy Liptrot’s autobiography titled with the same name, the movie narrates the story of a woman who goes back to her Scottish hometown following her stint at rehab for alcohol dependency. Notably, many of its incidents are portrayed in an unconventional, non-chronological manner.
In addition to actor Saoirse Ronan known from movies like Lady Bird and Little Women, the film also features Paapa Essiedu from I May Destroy You, Izuka Hoyle from Big Boys, and Stephen Dillane from Game of Thrones, along with several other talented actors.
In our review of The Outrun, published by Digital Spy, we awarded the film three out of five stars, describing it as an “unconventional yet beautiful and poetic” movie. Despite its attempts to accomplish many things, not everything was completely successful. However, the captivating performance of Saoirse Ronan in her role as main character Rona serves to bind the entire film together.
Although the tale occasionally loses its freshness, the visual storytelling is consistently engaging due to its seamless fusion of concepts, textures, and mediums, ranging from historical photographs to animations. This summary reflects our feedback.
Saoirse Ronan’s exceptional acting, coupled with it, makes this film a remarkable work of art. Much like Rona, the movie interprets and expresses the world in its own distinctive, poetic manner.”
This version maintains the original message while using simpler language and a more conversational tone.
In addition, the movie signified Ronan’s first foray into production work, and she personally disclosed to us that it was precisely what she required at this stage of her professional journey.
She mentioned that it was an exceptional method to step away from one’s personal thoughts and contemplate the broader context, as well as channel her efforts productively towards the individuals she was collaborating with.
