Directive 8020 is the Next Dark Pictures Game, a Sci-Fi Survival Horror Starring Lashana Lynch Coming in 2025
As a seasoned survival horror enthusiast with a soft spot for intricate narratives and suspenseful gameplay, I can hardly contain my excitement for Supermassive Games’ latest offering – Directive 8020! Having navigated through various dark corridors and haunted houses in my gaming journey, I find myself drawn to the prospect of exploring an alien planet in search of a new home for humanity.
Supermassive Games has revealed Directive 8020, the upcoming installment in their The Dark Pictures Anthology. This sci-fi survival horror game features Lashana Lynch (from No Time To Die and The Woman King) and promises a significant advance for the series with live threats that evolve in real-time, stealth elements, and spectacular cinematics powered by Unreal Engine 5.
The narrative unfolds as you embark on a journey to find a new habitable world, 12 light years away from Earth, due to the impending doom of our planet and the looming extinction of humanity. This adventure transpires on the celestial body of Tau Ceti f, where your spacecraft, Cassiopeia, unfortunately crashes. However, you soon discover that you’re not the only inhabitants; there exists a mysterious alien entity that assumes the appearance of its victims, much like a predator.
In the game Directive 8020, due for release on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC in 2025, you’ll find yourself needing to create makeshift weapons, avoid dangerous adversaries, and figure out who among them are still human and who might be controlled by something else. You can watch the official announcement trailer below for a sneak peek.
