The mobile game Digimon: Source Code is closing down, which is sad news for players who were hoping it would become available worldwide. The game’s servers will be switched off on January 26, 2026, marking the end of its run after a limited time in China.

Digimon: Source Code will no longer be available starting November 26, 2025. After that date, you won’t be able to download the game, create new characters, make purchases, or even log in. The game servers will officially shut down on January 26, 2026.

The shut down of Digimon: Source Code might be attributed to poor performance

If you’ve been following this game for a while, the recent news might be particularly disappointing, as Digimon: Source Code had been in development for quite some time. It first launched a closed beta test in China in December 2021, offering players an initial preview. Later, in July 2023, the game was showcased at the ChinaJoy gaming convention.

The mobile game officially launched in China in April 2025. It was created by Bandai Namco (Shanghai) and Kingnet, under the Bandai Namco brand, and was officially licensed by Toei Animation.

The game had some clever ideas. It was fundamentally a turn-based RPG, but the creators also included exploration and some idle game features to help you advance more easily. A particularly good part was being able to explore the world without worrying about stamina.

Despite everything, the game is now closing down. Many players anticipated this, as declining revenue had led to expectations of its shutdown even before it had been available for six months.
