Die Hard is on TV tonight to get you in the festive spirit

Even though Macaulay Culkin doesn’t consider it a Christmas movie, many people feel like the holidays don’t truly begin until they’ve watched Die Hard. If you haven’t watched it recently, you can tune in tonight for a festive rewatch.

Many films have tried to copy it, but after 37 years, Die Hard remains unmatched. (Apologies if that makes you realize how long ago it came out!)

If you’re planning your yearly viewing of Die Hard, it’s on Channel 4 tonight at 9:10 PM. You can also stream it on Channel 4’s streaming service right now if you want to watch it immediately.

If you miss the movie tonight, or prefer not to stream it, you can catch a re-airing on Christmas Eve at 10pm on channel 4seven.

If you’d like to watch Die Hard without ads and don’t want to pay to remove them on Channel 4, it’s currently available to stream on Disney+ for all subscribers.

The service also offers all the other Die Hard films – Die Hard 2, Die Hard with a Vengeance, Die Hard 4.0, and A Good Day to Die Hard – so you can watch them all back-to-back. However, only Die Hard 2 continues the tradition of taking place during the holidays.

Even if you don’t already have Disney+, you can start a subscription for as little as £5.99 a month with Disney+ Standard with Ads. Ad-free plans are also offered, costing either £9.99 or £14.99 per month.

Getting back to Macaulay Culkin, he doesn’t consider Die Hard a Christmas movie, even though it takes place during the holiday season. He recently explained this to Mythical Kitchen, stating that while the film is based around Christmas, it doesn’t quite fit the bill.

He thought the idea might work if it were St. Patrick’s Day, but a ‘Home Alone’ movie set on Memorial Day just wouldn’t fit. He added with a laugh, ‘Let’s just say I’ve become something of an expert on Christmas movies, so I have a pretty strong opinion about this.’

We’ll agree to disagree Macaulay since it’s Christmas, but you’re wrong.

You can watch Die Hard tonight on Channel 4 at 9:10 PM, or stream it right now on Channel 4’s streaming service.

Enjoy the holidays with the Good Housekeeping Christmas TV Guide! It’s packed with 14 days of listings to help you plan your festive viewing, and it’s available now for just £4.75 at Morrisons, TG Jones, and other magazine shops.
