Die Hard 2 actor Art Evans dies aged 82 after a long health battle as his wife pays heartfelt tribute to her ‘devoted husband’
As a devoted follower of the silver screen, I have always been captivated by the enchanting world that unfolds on the big screen. One actor who has left an indelible mark on my heart and countless others is Art Evans. His tragic demise at the age of 82 in Los Angeles, following a long health battle with diabetes, has left a void that no other can fill.
82-year-old actor Art Evans passed away in Los Angeles over the weekend, after a prolonged struggle with his health.
His sad passing was caused by complication from diabetes, which he had suffered with for several years.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Babe, and their son, Ogadae. In turn, Babe paid a touching tribute to her devoted spouse.
She declared that he wasn’t just an exceptional actor, but also a loving spouse, a cherished companion, and a radiant beacon for anyone fortunate enough to know him.
‘His laughter, passion, and love of life will be deeply missed. While our hearts are heavy, we celebrate the legacy of joy and inspiration he leaves behind.’
As a connoisseur of all things lifestyle-related, I can confidently say that Art’s illustrious career, spanning over four extraordinary decades, is nothing short of inspiring. Boasting an impressive repertoire of more than 120 roles, it’s his unforgettable performance opposite the legendary Bruce Willis in Die Hard 2 that truly cemented his place in cinematic history.

In the 1990 action sequel set at Dulles International Airport, he portrayed Leslie Barnes, a character who was an air traffic control tower employee and assisted Bruce Willis’s John McClane in combating terrorists.
In the same year, he was also featured prominently in another major hit film titled “A Soldier’s Story.” His role was that of PVT. James Wilkie, where he shared the screen with Howard Rollins, Adolph Caesar, and a young, rising star named Denzel Washington, marking one of his earliest significant performances.
The film is a murder mystery set during the Jim Crow era, where an African-American soldier is shot to death.
On a modest $6 million budget, it subsequently earned over $21 million worldwide and received critical praise, garnering three Oscar nominations, one of which was for the prestigious Best Picture category.
