Her breakfast radio show was axed in January and she was moved into a national Drive timeslot.
And it seems the sleep-ins are paying off for Kate Ritchie.
The actress, known for her role on Home and Away, glowed while at the Keli Holiday concert held at Selina’s in Coogee, Sydney, on Wednesday evening.
Even though the concert was at a pub, Kate made a real effort with her outfit. She wore a beautiful, full-length olive green Zimmermann dress that cost $1500, along with black heels and eye-catching feather earrings.
The mother styled her brown hair, leaving some down and some pulled back, and kept her makeup simple to highlight her natural features.
Kate entered the event from a side entrance with her radio show’s executive producer, Tom Ivey.
Keli’s girlfriend, Abbie Chatfield, and Kate’s old radio colleague Tim Blackwell, along with his partner Lizzie Baxter, were also at the event.
Tim showed up at the concert only hours after a domestic violence order was issued to protect his former wife, Monique.
In January, the radio show hosted by Kate Ritchie, Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald, and Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli was cancelled and replaced with a new show featuring Ricki-Lee Coulter and Tim Blackwell.
Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald, Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli and Kate were moved into a national Drive timeslot.
Wippa announced that after 15 years hosting the breakfast radio show ‘Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie,’ the team feels ready to move on and take over the national drive time slot.
‘4-6pm around Australia on the country’s best Radio Network, Nova. There it is, guys!’
Okay, so everyone was losing it, thinking we were going to disappear, right? But honestly? We’re not! Like, not even close! This isn’t a farewell or anything, I promise. We’re sticking around, and I’m SO relieved I can finally say that!
The show has changed over time. After 15 years, we’re so grateful for our wonderful audience – we truly couldn’t do it without you. We used to focus on getting you and your kids to school, but now we’re shifting our focus to getting you home in the afternoons.
That’s all there is to it – the show will be hosted by Fitzy, Wippa, and Kate. Wippa and I only had one request: that Kate Ritchie just goes by Kate, not ‘Kate Ritchie,’ as a bit of a joke.
Without missing a moment, Kate joked, ‘It’s good to be clear – Kate Ritchie isn’t being replaced on the show! I think it’s because I’ve finally mastered spelling my own name, so I don’t need all the advertising.’
Kate said she was ‘thrilled’ about making the move.
Oh my gosh, I’m still buzzing! Being part of the Sydney Breakfast crew has been the absolute best, and now… now everyone across Australia gets to listen! I’m seriously so excited we’re going national, it’s a dream come true!
I’m setting my alarm now, ready to pack lunches and do the school run again, knowing I get to entertain our listeners on their way home – it’s going to be a great change for everyone involved.
