Diddy strikes back against $100 million default judgment… claiming he never received the lawsuit
As someone who has been following the turbulent journey of music icons for decades, I must say, the latest turn of events in Diddy’s life is nothing short of surprising. The $100 million default judgment against him seems to be just another chapter in his rollercoaster ride through the world of fame and fortune.
In just a few short days following a whopping $100 million default verdict, the embattled music magnate is making efforts to challenge it.
As a diehard fan, I can’t help but share this shocking news: In 1997, a $100 million lawsuit was filed against me, the 54-year-old rapper, by Derrick Lee Cardello-Smith. He alleged that I drugged and sexually assaulted him at a party – claims that I vehemently deny.
Because Diddy didn’t officially address the court case or join the online court session on Monday, the judge made a decision in his absence, ruling against the rapper instead.
Beginning October 1st, Diddy will need to make a monthly payment of $10 million to Cardello-Smith.
Instead, Diddy submitted an urgent request on Thursday to overturn the ruling as he contends that he wasn’t served with the initial lawsuit papers.

According to documents submitted by the music magnate, he stated that he was unaware of how to manage the situation once media outlets began disseminating information about it.
Additionally, his legal team is firmly asserting that no misconduct took place, stating that the accusations are entirely baseless or manufactured.
Additionally, the lawyers argue that, had the accusations been valid, the time limit for bringing those cases has long passed (17 years ago).
Diddy’s team assert that the lawsuit is baseless, as the individual bringing it is a convicted rapist and has a track record of filing unwarranted legal actions.
The lawsuit claims that Cardello-Smith and Diddy were both having sex with a group of women during a 1997 party, claiming that at one point, he felt Diddy’s hand touch his butt.
Additionally, he alleges that Diddy drugged his beverage. Upon regaining consciousness, Diddy was found engaging intimately with another woman, who later asserted that she too had been subjected to such actions by him, saying, “I did the same thing to you.
In August, Cardello-Smith, who’s incarcerated in a Michigan prison right now, submitted a request for a restraining order against Diddy.
He provided records that proved Diddy visited him in prison, claiming he offered Cardello-Smith $2.3 million to drop the allegations against him.

It’s said that Diddy commented, “That’s our usual way of operating,” to the inmate, when he refused to dismiss the charges. However, Cardello-Smith countered, “I have a different view on your methods.
Diddy’s legal representative, Marc Agnifilo, informed DailyMail.com: “This individual, Cardello-Smith, is a former criminal and sexual offender, who has been found guilty on 14 accounts of sexual assault and kidnapping over the past 26 years.
As a devoted follower, I’d like to rephrase that statement in a more personal and straightforward manner: ‘Recently, I find myself mentioned in court for fraudulent acts, though Mr. Combs has no knowledge of me and I haven’t been served with any lawsuit. I eagerly anticipate swift dismissal of this judgment by Mr. Combs.’
Last month, Combs filed a motion to dismiss a $30m lawsuit filed by record producer Rodney ‘Lil Rod’ Jones, who sued him for constant groping and a possible drug-induced rape.
In February, Jones initiated legal action – this was only a few weeks prior to two of Combs’ residences being searched by federal agents as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged sex trafficking.
It is alleged that Jones asserted he was instructed to procure sex workers and engage in such activities for the enjoyment of a certain star, with claims of over 300 hours of video evidence detailing Combs’s alleged illegal acts. However, Diddy has firmly denied any accusations of misconduct.
