Following a year-long investigation – which included federal raids on Diddy’s homes – and an eight-week trial filled with discussion of ‘Freak-Offs’ and baby oil, the length of Sean Combs’s jail sentence is now known. The music executive has been sentenced to 50 months – a little over four years – in prison after being found guilty on two charges related to transporting individuals for the purpose of prostitution.
Besides facing a prison sentence, according to Judge Arun Subramanian via CNN, Diddy was also ordered to pay a $500,000 fine – the highest possible penalty for these charges. The sentencing followed a lengthy hearing on Friday, October 3, where the judge listened to arguments from both the defense and prosecution, as well as statements from Diddy himself. TMZ reports that the rapper took the opportunity to apologize to his former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, stating:
I want to say again how deeply sorry I am to Cassie Ventura for any pain I’ve caused her, whether it was emotional or physical. And I also want to sincerely apologize to her family. I truly am so sorry.
He also apologized to another witness, who testified under a pseudonym, saying:
I didn’t mean to hurt you. I’m sorry that I brought you into my mess.
He reportedly called his actions “disgusting, shameful and sick.”
