As a long-time fan of both “Cougar Town” and the more recent series “Shrinking”, I must admit that seeing Josh Hopkins grace my screen once again as Grayson was an absolute delight! It’s always heartening to see familiar faces from our favorite shows, especially when they’re reprising their roles in a new context.
Did you notice the on-screen reunion of Cougar Town in the latest episode of Shrinking? If you were among the fans of the Courtney Cox-led comedy that ran from 2009 to 2015, you might have spotted a familiar face in season 2 episode 5 this week. Regrettably, it wasn’t the Friends co-star making an appearance. However, it was a delightful guest role nonetheless.
In the latest episode of Apple TV+ series, actor Josh Hopkins reappears, playing Liz’s ex-boyfriend from 25 years ago named Mac. Interestingly enough, he didn’t share screen time with Christa Miller’s character Ellie in their previous series, “Cougar Town.” However, they did collaborate extensively because Ellie was Jules’ best friend on the show, and their characters often interacted as part of the ensemble cast.
For six seasons, they shared the screen on the sitcom. It’s wonderful to witness such an on-screen reunion! These kinds of connections are always delightful for viewers who recognize them. And let me tell you, it was quite a pleasant surprise when he popped up on my screen during the episode. As for Liz’s spouse Derek, he’s well aware of Mac, and trust me, he isn’t fond of him.
Derek is exceptionally kind-hearted, yet it doesn’t exclude him from experiencing jealousy. After all, he’s just like any other person. I wonder if Mac will keep showing up, or if this was a single event. Given the nature of Shrinking, there’s a good chance Mac might stick around for a bit longer, especially since his introduction seemed random. Maybe this presents a fresh challenge and storyline for Liz and Derek to navigate? It should be intriguing to see how things develop from here.
Regardless of the challenges they face, I have no doubt that Liz and Derek will navigate through this obstacle gracefully. I am thrilled to see these two talented actors from “Cougar Town” and “Shrinking” joining forces once again in season 2 of “Shrinking.” As a fan of both shows, it’s a delightful surprise for us viewers to witness their reunion. So, what do you make of this on-screen union? I am simply excited about it!
