As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for the inspiring stories of those who have made their mark on the world, I find myself deeply moved by the tale of comedy legend Dick Van Dyke. Approaching his 99th birthday, this man still maintains an unyielding sense of humor that is truly remarkable.

Even as comedy icon Dick Van Dyke nears a significant landmark, his legendary wit and humor remain vibrant.

On December 13, the comedian is set to celebrate his 99th birthday. Not too long ago, he made some remarks about his age during an outing with a companion, as reported by Page Six.

On Monday, he was seen in Malibu, California, using a cane while walking towards his car. His companion assisted him inside the vehicle.

When inquired about potential celebrations for his 99th birthday, the renowned figure simply expressed hope for survival, punctuating his response with a familiar chuckle.

Asked about his feelings while walking towards the car, Van Dyke simply replied, “I’m quite elderly,” followed by another chuckle. This remark was made shortly after he had to forgo a scheduled engagement.

At 98 years old, Van Dyke matched a legendary figure, Norman Lear, by receiving an Emmy award, making them both the oldest individuals to achieve this milestone.

He won Outstanding Variety Special for his 2023 birthday special Dick Van Dyke 98 Years of Magic, though he didn’t attend the Primetime Emmys telecast.

Following the receipt of the award, Van Dyke expressed to journalists (as reported by People) his aspiration to be acknowledged for bringing about ‘merriment.’

He expressed his gratitude for entertaining people with laughter for an astonishing 75 years. Over seven decades, he has been a part of this profession. It’s hard to believe, but he’s still active and taking the stage.

The well-known comedian surveyed the room and quipped, “I’m job hunting if anyone here is hiring.

When asked what advice he would give to younger performers, he said to stick with the craft.

Van Dyke advised, ‘Persevere through the tough phases and numerous tryouts. Keep pushing forward.’

As an ardent admirer, let me tell you this: If you trust your abilities, take a deep breath and be steadfast. Never forget that you possess the power within yourself to achieve greatness!

Initially, it was planned for him to be present at the FanX event in Salt Lake City from September 26-29. However, he revealed on Monday that he wouldn’t be able to make it.

‘We are sorry to announce that Dick Van Dyke is not able to travel to FanX,’ the statement began.

He thanks everyone who stands by him for their unwavering support, however, due to his advanced age nearing 99, extensive travel and engaging with large crowds has become too much for him to handle now.

Van Dyke previously attended the event back in 2017.
