Dianne Buswell celebrates her first week as a new mum as she shares sweet snap with Bowden while Joe Sugg treats her to breakfast in bed

Dianne Buswell marked her first week as a new mother by sharing an adorable photo of her newborn son on Instagram this Saturday.

Strictly Come Dancing’s Dianne Buswell and her partner Joe Sugg recently announced the birth of their son, Bowden Mark Richard Sugg, who arrived on March 16th. The couple shared the news on Wednesday.

She recently shared a peek into her life at home, posting a photo of herself holding her baby son on social media.

She shared a photo with the caption: ‘So happy to spend our first weekend together, little Bowie! And for the record, he definitely didn’t get my funny toe!’

Let me tell you, it’s just the sweetest thing! My partner, Joe, is really stepping up as a new dad. He completely surprised me this morning with breakfast in bed – such a thoughtful gesture, and exactly what a new mom needs! It’s those little moments that make all the difference, you know?

Holding up a bowl of fruit and yoghurt, Dianne wrote: ‘When daddy makes you breakfast in bed’.

Dianne recently welcomed her son and shared a sweet photo on Instagram, calling the past few days ‘the most magical time of my life’.

Dianne and Joe, who became a couple after meeting on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018, have welcomed a baby boy named Bowden. They honored both of their families by giving Bowden middle names after Dianne’s father, Mark, and Joe’s grandfather, Richard, who passed away in 2021.

Dianne announced the arrival of her son, Bowden, sharing a sweet photo of him in her arms and another of her and Joe bringing their new baby home from the hospital.

She captioned the post: ‘Never felt a love like it. Baby Bowden Mark Richard Sugg. 16/03/26.’

Dianne received lots of congratulatory messages from her fellow ‘Strictly’ dancers in the comments section, including one from Vicky Pattison who wrote, ‘Omg!!!! Congratulations guys!!! He is Perfect.’

Vito Coppola is overjoyed! He wrote, ‘Oh, finally! My beautiful nephew! I’m so incredibly happy, I’m crying with joy. Uncle Vito can’t wait to meet you! Lots and lots of love, beautiful nephew!’

Nancy Xu excitedly shared her joy, saying she can’t wait to meet the new baby and welcoming them to the world. She also congratulated the parents, referring to them as ‘D D’ and tagging Joe Sugg.

Janette Manrara shared her excitement, writing: ‘Amazing news!!! Congratulations to you, my dear! I’m so thrilled for you and Joe. You have so many wonderful experiences ahead of you.’

Amy Dowden shared her congratulations, calling the news ‘utter perfection’ and welcoming baby Bowden. She expressed her excitement to meet the little one and send lots of love.

‘OMG!! Congrats to you both!!!’ Gorka Marquez posted.

Fleur East posted: ‘Ahhhh he’s here! Congratulations to both of you.’

Dianne announced she was expecting a baby on Instagram in September, just before the new season of Strictly Come Dancing began.

She made history on Strictly as the first professional dancer to compete while pregnant. Unfortunately, her partner Stefan Dennis had to withdraw from the competition in 2025 because of an injury.

Dianne and Joe announced they were expecting a baby in a sweet video set to Elton John’s “Tiny Dancer.” They playfully pretended to paint a picture together on an easel as a way to reveal the news.

They held up the canvas for the camera, and it showed a simple drawing of two stick figures – one with bright red hair, representing Dianne – holding hands with a baby.

The couple shared that they’re expecting their first child in 2026, and it’s going to be a boy.

Joe captioned the clip: ‘Our little baby boy ❤️ we cannot wait to meet you.’

Friends and fans showered the couple with congratulations, and their co-stars from Strictly Come Dancing were among the first to offer their best wishes.

Dianne hinted that the birth of their baby son was imminent in February in a sweet update.

She made a video showing her and Joe Sugg’s belongings, and then included tiny replicas of them.

Dianne signaled she was prepared for the baby’s arrival, having laid out little outfits, shoes, and even a fun onesie inspired by ‘Strictly Come Dancing.’ She then simply said, ‘Now we wait.’

She captioned the Instagram post: ‘When 2 will soon become 3 the last one!’

Joe and Dianne became a couple after being partnered together on the 2018 season of Strictly Come Dancing.

Competition organizers reportedly developed backup plans for Dianne when she became the first contestant to compete while pregnant last year.

Because the baby is expected in early 2026 and the Strictly final is in December 2025, she might have continued dancing almost until the baby was born. This meant show officials needed to prepare a replacement plan just in case.

According to a source, the show’s producers are prepared for any unexpected issues. They have several professional dancers ready to fill in if needed, ensuring the show can continue without interruption.

Honestly, I’m just so worried about Dianne! But the BBC seems to really care – they’ve said her health and wellbeing are their top priority, and they’re going to be checking in on her constantly with their welfare team. It’s a relief to know she won’t be going through this alone, and they’re taking it seriously. I’m just hoping she gets all the support she needs!

A source close to Strictly Come Dancing told the Daily Mail that the story is a fuss about something that’s been known for a while, and it’s inaccurate to suggest it’s new information.

Dianne was a contestant on last year’s show with Stefan Dennis, an actor from the popular Australian series Neighbours. However, they had to leave the competition when Stefan was injured.

Rumors spread rapidly, suggesting Stefan’s injury wasn’t what it seemed and that Dianne’s pregnancy was the real reason they had to pull out.

Dianne quickly went to Instagram to deny the rumors, writing: ‘Just to be clear, a lot of people have messaged me wondering if this is an excuse for me not being able to dance!’

We would never lie, especially about someone’s health. And to be clear, I’m doing well! I am pregnant, but I’m also perfectly capable and feeling great.

She also clarified that procedures are already established to handle illness or injury among professionals, stating, ‘We have systems in place to support pros who get sick or injured.’

Dianne subtly shared clues about wanting a baby for months before they announced her pregnancy. She even confessed in May that she really longed to become a mother.

The celebrity, who won the dance competition with her partner Chris McCausland in 2024, shared that the pressures of her work have delayed their plans to start a family.

She shared with The Sun that she definitely wants to have children someday. She and her partner, Joe, both love kids and are eager to start a family, though she hasn’t decided exactly how many children she’d like. She feels confident that it will happen.
