A recently revealed death certificate offers new details about Diane Keaton’s health in the time leading up to her passing.
The beloved actress died on October 11th at the age of 79, her family announced she passed away due to pneumonia.
According to a death certificate obtained by People magazine, actress Kirstie Alley had been fighting a serious bacterial pneumonia for several days before she passed away.
The document lists no other significant contributing conditions and says Keaton will be cremated.
Diane Keaton’s family released a heartfelt statement saying they are deeply thankful for the overwhelming love and support they’ve received since her passing from pneumonia on October 11th.
They shared details about what the famous actress cared deeply about, such as her passion for animals.

She deeply cared for animals and was a strong advocate for people experiencing homelessness. In lieu of flowers, donations to a local food bank or animal shelter would be a meaningful way to honor her memory.
I was so incredibly saddened to hear about Keaton’s sudden passing this past Saturday. A family representative confirmed the news to People magazine, and it immediately sparked an outpouring of love and tributes from so many in Hollywood and fans like me. It’s just heartbreaking.
According to TMZ, a close friend of the Academy Award-winning actress revealed on Wednesday that she had been dealing with health issues for some time. The actress is known for her roles in films like Something’s Gotta Give and Father of the Bride.
According to a source close to the situation, Keaton was sick before she died, so her passing wasn’t unexpected.
Someone close to Keaton shared with People magazine that the actress’s health had worsened rapidly, which was deeply upsetting for her loved ones.
During her last few months, she was cared for privately by her immediate family. Even people who had known her for years didn’t completely understand the extent of her illness.
A disturbing 911 call from early Saturday morning revealed details about Keaton’s last moments.
TMZ obtained an audio recording of a 911 dispatcher requesting the Los Angeles Fire Department to Keaton’s home around 8 a.m. because someone had fallen or was unresponsive.
The actress known for her role in The Godfather was taken to a local hospital by ambulance, where she sadly passed away.
Carole Bayer Sager, a close friend of the actress who recently passed away, remembered how much weight the actress had lost before her death.
Sager told People he saw her a few weeks ago and noticed she had lost a lot of weight, looking very thin.

Keaton also shared that they were impacted by the destructive wildfires that hit Los Angeles in January.
She needed to travel to Palm Springs because her home suffered interior damage and required thorough cleaning.
Sager mentioned that she had been gone for some time, and he was surprised by how much weight she’d lost when she returned.
Keaton was described by her friend as ‘a magic light for everyone.’
“I was completely captivated by her,” Sager shared. “She had this incredible energy that would brighten up any space.”
Since Diane Keaton’s death, it’s been revealed that her ex-boyfriend and former colleague Al Pacino always regretted not marrying her when he had the chance.
According to a source close to the Oscar-winning actor, Al now says his true love was Diane, whom he’s always described as an incredible woman.
A friend said that Al Pacino, now 85, will always be sorry he didn’t pursue a relationship when he had the opportunity, referring to their time together between 1971 and 1987.

After Al and Diane separated, he often said that it was never too late for a second chance if things were truly meant to be. Unfortunately, he now believes that time has passed.
I was so heartbroken to hear about Keaton’s passing, and I wasn’t alone. So many of my favorite actors and directors – legends like Leonardo DiCaprio, Bette Midler, and Francis Ford Coppola – shared how deeply affected they were. It really showed how much respect and love there was for him throughout Hollywood.
DiCaprio described the Oscar-winning actress as ‘brilliant, funny, and truly herself,’ and shared that she would be greatly missed.
Bette Midler described Diane Keaton as incredibly funny, truly one-of-a-kind, and genuinely without pretense. Midler noted that Keaton lacked the typical rivalry you might expect from someone so famous, and that she was exactly as authentic off-screen as she appeared on it – a completely genuine person!
In an Instagram post, director Francis Ford Coppola praised Diane Keaton, saying he was amazed by her talent and creativity. He described her as incredibly intelligent and beautiful, noting that everything she did seemed to embody creativity.
The actress is remembered for her incredible career in Hollywood, and many consider her work from the 1970s to be among the finest of that era.
She starred in the lead role of the 1977 comedy *Annie Hall*, a film written and directed by Woody Allen. They worked together on many other well-known projects.
Allen is said to be deeply upset by Keaton’s death, especially given their history of working together and being in a relationship.

In 1978, Diane Keaton won the Best Actress award for her performance in *Annie Hall*. This was the first of four times she would be nominated for the award throughout her career.
She also earned recognition for her performances in films like Reds (1981), Marvin’s Room (1996), and Something’s Gotta Give (2003).
Throughout her long and successful career, Keaton also appeared in several well-known films, including *Baby Boom* (1987), *The First Wives Club* (1996), and the *Father of the Bride* movies from 1991 and 1995.
The actress was last seen in public at a birthday party for Jack Nicholson back in April of this year.

Ed Begley Jr., a fellow actor, recently saw her at Jack Nicholson’s birthday party and told People magazine it was great to catch up.
She’s both a talented actress and a lovely person. I had the chance to work with her years ago, playing her brother in an HBO movie called Running Mates alongside Ed Harris, and I’m happy to have known her for so long.
Begley shared that Keaton and Jack Nicholson had a mutual admiration for each other, just as he did. He emphasized he wasn’t speaking for Nicholson, but was certain Nicholson felt as heartbroken about Keaton’s passing as he did.
Keaton never married but adopted two children in her 50s: daughter Dexter and son Duke.
