Dexter's MOST memorable murders (including his own death!) as Michael C. Hall makes shock return as serial killer for Resurrection reboot

As a longtime fan of Dexter, I must say that the final episode of Dexter: New Blood was nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. The storyline beautifully wrapped up the life of its protagonist, Dexter Morgan, while also introducing fresh twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat.

Fans were thrilled and surprised when Dexter Morgan made a comeback for the second time in Dexter: Resurrection of 2025, following his gruesome demise in the 2021 reboot, New Blood.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d put it this way: Michael C. Hall, who’s been portraying the enigmatic Dexter Morgan for over a decade now, dropped a hint at San Diego Comic Con about the potential revival of this captivating character he’s played since 2006. When quizzed about how Dexter could possibly rise from the dead, all Hall would say was ‘it’s very cold.’

In the prequel “Original Sin,” Hall, aged 53, will provide the voice for the character representing Dexter’s inner self. This story follows Patrick Gibson as his character, Dexter, leaves college and embarks on a new journey as a serial killer. Simultaneously, he begins his career in blood spatter analysis at Miami Metro.

Dexter’s odyssey as a serial killer, guided by his father Harry’s principles, has resulted in him eliminating numerous ruthless killers. This includes his own brother, the Ice Truck Killer, and the Brain Surgeon who caused grave harm to his sister Deb, his adoptive sibling. (Jennifer Carpenter plays Deb.)

Additionally, he is known for having taken down the infamous Trinity Killer, a serial killer who managed to evade detection for decades. However, it was uncovered that the true murderer had outsmarted him in the end – fatally striking Dexter’s wife, Rita (portrayed by Julie Benz), just hours before his own demise.

With Dexter’s Dark Passenger gearing up for a resurrection following his shooting by son Harrison (portrayed by Jack Alcott) – DailyMail.com takes a stroll down memory lane, recounting some of Dexter’s most gripping killings…

MIKE DONOVAN

Dexter's MOST memorable murders (including his own death!) as Michael C. Hall makes shock return as serial killer for Resurrection reboot

In the opening scene of the pilot, it is shown that Dexter initially kills a man who turns out to be a pedophile and a serial murderer, having taken the lives of at least three young boys.

At a choir performance, it’s noticeable that Dexter is pursuing Mike Donovan (Jim Abele). Later, he abducts him by getting him into his vehicle, eventually leading him to a remote spot.

With a rope tied around his own neck, Dexter leads him into a storage building, whereupon he exposes the remains of his three deceased victims that he had previously buried.

In a different phrasing, Dexter, revealing his Dark Side, exclaims: “Open your eyes and see the consequences of your actions! Keep them open or I’ll remove your eyelids right from your face.”

In a tearful tone, Donovan admits, ‘I just couldn’t resist,’ to which Dexter replies sympathetically, ‘Believe me, I get it. I have my own struggles too. But harming children? That’s something I could never do, not even in your situation.’

In tears, Donovan queries, “Why?” To which Dexter calmly replies, “I hold myself to certain principles,” and then proceeds to inject him with a needle in the neck.

For the initial display, we witness Dexter’s murder chamber and unique rituals. A bare Donovan is restrained on a table inside a room covered with plastic sheeting. As Dexter carries out his grisly task, he carefully cuts Donovan’s cheek and saves the blood drop on a microscope slide as a keepsake.

As a seasoned traveler who has journeyed through many corners of the globe, I can confidently say that the art of tidiness and organization is one of the keys to a happier, more fulfilling life. When a space is clean and uncluttered, it creates an environment where one can focus, be productive, and find solace in the simplicity of orderliness.

Dexter murders Donovan by using a hand saw on his neck.

BRIAN MOSER – THE ICE TRUCK KILLER

Dexter's MOST memorable murders (including his own death!) as Michael C. Hall makes shock return as serial killer for Resurrection reboot
Dexter's MOST memorable murders (including his own death!) as Michael C. Hall makes shock return as serial killer for Resurrection reboot

In the first season, the antagonist turns out to be Dexter’s biological brother, Brian Moser, who is infamously recognized as “The Ice Truck Killer.” (Christian Camargo portrays this character.)

Dexter finds himself captivated by a woman, dismembered and devoid of blood, whom he later believes is being transported in a refrigerated vehicle by the murderer.

With each new victim, the killer starts sending messages to Dexter – leaving doll fragments around his house, tossing dismembered heads near his vehicle, and reenacting his old childhood photographs using body parts instead.

As the dedicated prosthetist known as Rudy Cooper, I find myself crossing paths with Deb, Dexter’s sister (portrayed by Jennifer Carpenter). Our connection is immediate, leading us down the path of romance. Unbeknownst to me, Deb is on a mission to uncover the truth behind a series of murders – a task that inadvertently brings her closer to my own secrets.

Rudy is desperate to get close to Dexter – and even kills his biological father to do so.

In this scenario, police discovered that the culprit was an ardent amputee, whom Detective Batista was interrogating regarding potential suspects. Later, Rudy attacked Batista, delivering a stab wound and causing a head-butt incident. However, in the scuffle, some of Rudy’s blood ended up on Batista’s uniform.

Dexter has reason to believe Rudy following the observation of a swollen lip, so he compares Rudy’s blood to the stain on his shirt – and they match as expected.

While Rudy hints to Deb that he plans to propose, he persuades her to leave the station for an evening on a yacht, disregarding Dexter’s cautions. However, Rudy proposes only to later unveil himself as the murderer and strangle Deb into unconsciousness.

After deciphering Rudy’s hints, Dexter revisits his old family residence from his youth, which stirs memories of his sibling ‘Biney.’ At the tragic crime scene where their mother was slain, Biney was also discovered and deemed too traumatized to be placed for adoption.

In a turn of events, Brian requests Dexter to eliminate Deb, but Dexter hesitates. In response, Brian attempts to attack Deb himself. A fierce struggle ensues between them, but ultimately, Brian decides to retreat.

Dexter lures Brian to his apartment – where he tries to kill Deb again – before capturing him.

Dexter arranges for Brian’s apparent self-inflicted death, simulating it as a throat-slitting and draining of blood within Brian’s personal residence – allowing him to perish from loss of blood, much like how he killed his victims.

In the sixth season, Brian makes an appearance for a total of two episodes, representing Dexter’s Dark Desire in a tangible form.

LITTLE CHINO

Dexter's MOST memorable murders (including his own death!) as Michael C. Hall makes shock return as serial killer for Resurrection reboot

In the second season, Dexter confronted one of his most challenging adversaries yet when he pursued Little Chino (Matthew Willig), who functioned as a hitman for the 29th Street Kings. At that time, Chino stood tall at 6’8″ and tipped the scales at a formidable 278 pounds.

Chino, a notorious killer, managed to evade legal consequences as he eliminated witnesses connected to his crimes. He is suspected of slaying a fellow gang member – the crime scene for which was visited by Dexter.

After his brother Brian’s murder, which left him shaken, Dexter spotted Chino as an ideal mark. This was following Eva Arenas, Chino’s mother, publicly identifying him as the culprit.

For the initial time, Dexter tricked Chino by stuffing his vehicle with live fowl (chickens), creating a distraction. Then, he administered two doses of M99 through hypodermic needles to Chino.

In a mishap, the weakened Dexter unintentionally inflicted a deep wound on Chino’s cheek during one of his experiments involving slides for blood samples. Unfortunately, he didn’t use enough protective material to keep Chino secure, which resulted in Chino managing to break free.

In retrospect, I found myself on the receiving end of a brutal attack, wielded by a machete, orchestrated by Chino, who cleverly enlisted one of his associates to execute the deed. This way, he could maintain an ironclad alibi for his whereabouts at the time.

Once more, Dexter couldn’t grab Chino during the party encounter, as Chino was surrounded by his associates who gave chase upon Dexter’s confrontation.

As a steadfast devotee, I procured a soothing dart gun and spear from the armory at the local precinct, marking the long-anticipated moment to apprehend Chino. Upon tracking down a youth who had disclosed vital information about the gang, I found myself poised in ambush.

In a new turn of events, Dexter secured Chino and ended his life using Chino’s machete, then discarded his corpse into the Gulf Stream.

In the renowned fourth season of the series, the character portrayed by John Lithgow, known as The Trinity Killer, received much praise for being Dexter’s most memorable antagonist, as his brutal crimes were meticulously depicted.

In Miami, Dexter becomes aware of Trinity when an old FBI agent named Frank Lundy, known for his pursuit of the Bay Harbor Butcher in season two, shows up to scrutinize what appeared to be a suicide of a young woman in a bathtub.

Catching up with ex-partner Deb and Dexter, Lundy (Keith Carradine) discloses his pursuit of an intricate murderer. This killer has a pattern of three, striking down a young woman by slashing her femoral artery in a bathtub, a married mother of two who plunged from a building, and a father of two brutally beaten to death.

Following Lundy’s tragic demise, Dexter secretly obtains his cassette tapes and later finds himself at the suspected crime site, where he witnesses Trinity brutally murdering an employee at a coffee shop.

As he followed him to his home, it became apparent that Trinity was a devoted family man with two kids. Eventually, our protagonist decided to cultivate a friendship with him, aiming to improve himself as a spouse and parent, despite harboring a secret life as a serial killer.

Under the guise of Kyle Butler, he attends Trinity’s church and helps with their charitable housing initiative. However, it doesn’t take long before he uncovers that Mitchell is a deceitful individual, mistreating his family both physically and emotionally.

Although he had multiple opportunities to kill Trinity, Dexter refrained instead, only revealing his true identity to Mitchell later in the episode ‘Hello, Dexter Morgan’, as Mitchell trailed him to the forensic lab.

Later on, it’s found out that Trinity had previously kidnapped a young boy a few days prior to the bathtub murder, with the intention of shielding his innocence. This act mirrored his own sorrowful family history where his sister perished in a shower, echoing the tragic past that also claimed the lives of his parents.

Dexter saves the child Trinity has abducted from being buried alive in cement.

In the end, Dexter manages to apprehend Mitchell and lays him down on his worktable – then ends his life using a framing hammer, the identical tool he had employed in the deaths of his previous victims.

Before his death Trinity tells Dexter ‘it’s already over’ – which puzzles him.

In an unprecedented turn of events that rocked television history, I discovered in the gripping Season Four finale, The Getaway, that Trinity had cold-bloodedly slain Dexter’s wife Rita in a chilling bath scene. Left behind was their son Harrison, sobbing amidst a sea of his mother’s blood.

10 years following the occurrences depicted in Dexter’s eighth season, as shown in Dexter: New Blood, it emerges that Trinity’s behavior led to Harrison inheriting his own ‘dark passenger.’

LILA WEST

Dexter's MOST memorable murders (including his own death!) as Michael C. Hall makes shock return as serial killer for Resurrection reboot

In the second season, Dexter crosses paths with Lila (Jaime Murray) at a Narcotics Anonymous gathering. At this point, Dexter is disguising himself as a heroin user in an attempt to control his compulsion to murder. Meanwhile, Lila presents herself as a former methamphetamine addict.

After Lila takes on the role of Dexter’s sponsor, they quickly develop a strong connection; however, a shocking truth emerges when it’s discovered that she too harbors her own Dark Passenger.

Lila admitted to setting fire to her former drug dealer’s house, unaware that Dexter was actually residing there at the time. In other words, she confessed to torching a building where Dexter lived unknowingly.

The enigmatic woman, or the deceitful temptress, swiftly undermines Dexter’s growing risky bond with Rita (Julie Benz) – and subtly prompts him to pursue one of the men responsible for his mother’s death, Santos Jimenez (Tony Amendola).

In simpler terms, their harmful relationship between Lila and Dexter takes a sexual turn. However, as Dexter participates in an event at his ex-stepson Cody’s school, Lila starts exercising more control over him. This escalation of power dynamics causes Lila to intentionally set fire to her apartment, hoping that Dexter would come to help her.

On edge about Lila’s deceit, Dexter gradually distances himself. This action prompts Lila to join him uninvited for his bowling evening. In a shocking turn of events, Santos tries to attack Dexter with a knife, but it’s Lila who steps in to protect him.

1. Following Dexter deceiving her about going after Jimenez, Lila sneaks into Rita’s residence to search for him. Later, Dexter uncovers the bowling alley’s location on a small piece of paper found in Jimenez’s wallet and realizes that Lila had orchestrated the setup. (This version aims to keep the tense consistent while also making the text more conversational.)

Noticing Lila’s entry into Rita’s house is unauthorized, he decides to dial the police first, avoiding a direct encounter with Lila, and thereby putting an end to their relationship.

Following Lila’s unfounded claim that Sergeant Angel Batista (David Zayas) was involved in a date rape, Deb delves into her background and discovers that she is residing in the U.S. using a fake identity and an outdated visa.

In fear of being expelled, a frantic Lila resorted to stealing Dexter’s GPS device. With this tool, she managed to locate the hidden cabin that Dexter had concealed, where he had stashed Sergeant Doakes (played by Erik King).

At the cabin, she discovers Doakes imprisoned and uncovers that Dexter is the Bay Harbor Butcher. Rather than rescuing Doakes, she initiates a deadly plan by turning on the gas and igniting a spark, leading to an explosion that takes Doakes’ life.

In a surprising turn, Dexter feigns a shift in emotions and arranges a rendezvous with Lila at an aquarium to declare his affection for her. However, he reveals that their sentiments towards each other are false, as they both lack genuine emotions.

Upon uncovering the deception in his ruse and finding his murder tools – also known as a kill kit – she kidnaps Astor and Cody, Rita’s children, confining them in her attic along with Dexter. She then sets the attic ablaze. However, they manage to narrowly escape from the burning building.

Dexter locates her in Paris, then mails her a postcard from Miami featuring the image of Sergeant Doakes.

In surprise, Lila is swiftly calmed down by Dexter who then places her in a see-through bag, subsequently piercing her heart with a blade.

As she dies, he thanks her for helping him to understand who he is.

ZOE KRUGER

Dexter's MOST memorable murders (including his own death!) as Michael C. Hall makes shock return as serial killer for Resurrection reboot

Dexter went after a family-killing cop in season four episode – Dex Takes A Holiday.

Intrigued by a ‘questionable blood swipe’ mentioned at a blood spatter conference, Dexter starts hunting Pembroke Pines Police Department Officer Zoe Kruger (Christina Cox) – whose young daughter and husband were allegedly shot to death by criminal Darius Rae.

Kruger, according to reports, sustained gunshot wounds and injuries, yet her counterpart in blood spatter analysis from Pembroke Pines posits that she may have shot herself intentionally. He further speculates that this self-inflicted wound was a setup to provoke an encounter with Rae, enabling her to obtain his blood and subsequently plant it within the residence.

Based on an analysis of the crime scene images, Dexter hypothesizes that the victim was donning blue gloves at the time she pulled the trigger.

Following his disguise as a potential purchaser during Kruger’s open house, along with some subtle flirtation, he discovers remnants of gloves in the trash compactor.

I’ve been discovered when Kruger uncovered that I had asked for the case file concerning her case – this led to a traffic stop and an implied warning, during which she hinted she knew where I live.

Dexter contemplates ending the pursuit, yet the spirit of Harry persistently nudges him, reminding him that Zoe is a ruthless murderer aware of where he and his loved ones reside.

He chooses to investigate the beehive and retrieve Rae’s documents from Pembroke Pines, which prompts Kruger to track him down to a gas station, where he displays a weapon and accuses him of attempting to assault her: “You’re trying to attack me.”

In response, I asserted, “I won’t so much as lay a finger on you,” before utilizing my extensive forensic wisdom to dismantle Kruger’s devious scheme to stage a self-defense shooting.

Dexter deceives her into walking into a trap, persuading her that he has sufficient proof to inform his higher-ups. This manipulation makes her believe she must invade his home to end his life. However, Dexter ends up overpowering her instead.

In a memorable scene, Kruger stirs on his daughter’s bedside table and asks in disbelief: “Are you planning to assault and murder me?” To which Dexter replies: “There’s no question of rape here! As for killing, well…”

He then stabs her in the chest.

MIGUEL PRADO

Dexter's MOST memorable murders (including his own death!) as Michael C. Hall makes shock return as serial killer for Resurrection reboot
Dexter's MOST memorable murders (including his own death!) as Michael C. Hall makes shock return as serial killer for Resurrection reboot

In the third season, Dexter initially encounters Miami’s Assistant District Attorney, portrayed by Jimmy Smits, at a crime scene. This encounter takes place following Dexter’s killing of his younger brother, Oscar Prado. The objective of this meeting is to track down a suspected serial killer named Fred ‘Freebo’ Bowman.

Miguel follows Freebo’s phone and discovers Dexter, who appears to have killed a drug dealer (portrayed by Mike Erwin), drenched in blood. According to Dexter, this was an act of self-defense. In an act of loyalty towards Dexter, he hands over his bloodstained shirt, potentially incriminating himself in the crime.

As they shared common ground on marriage and family matters, given that Rita was expecting and Dexter proposed, their relationship rapidly developed into a strong friendship.

As a devoted admirer, I entice Dexter back into the world of murder by sharing the intriguing tale of Ethan Turner (previously known as Larry Sullivan). This man has recently been acquitted of the murder of his affluent spouse, sparking curiosity and potentially rekindling Dexter’s dark passion.

Dexter journeys to Bimini aboard a cruise liner, where he eliminates Turner. Later, Miguel informs him that he has deduced Dexter’s criminal past as a killer, expressing his admiration for him.

Together, the duo takes down criminals, but Miguel’s escalating hostility towards defense attorney Ellen Wolf (Anne Ramsey) gradually affects his discernment.

When Ellen vanishes and Miguel seems to have disappeared without a trace, Dexter grows suspicious that he might be involved. His suspicions are later proven correct when he unearths Ellen’s battered and stabbed corpse from an exposed burial site – a grim reminder of the lessons Miguel had learned under his tutelage.

Upon examining the stained shirt, he discovers it contains cow’s blood, marking the moment he learns of Miguel’s deception for the very first time.

Dexter gains access to Miguel’s home and finds Ellen’s wedding ring which he kept as a trophy.

On a rooftop, the duo clash, and they decide to part ways independently. However, Dexter is oblivious to the fact that Miguel deliberately led him there, intending for the murderer known as The Skinner to recognize Dexter.

When Miguel, intent on murdering Lieutenant Maria LaGuerta who had discovered he was the killer of Ellen, intruded into her home, it was Dexter who sprung a trap upon him instead.

At the confrontation spot, when Miguel expresses acceptance toward him as if a sibling, Dexter confesses that he had already taken the lives of his brother Brian and Oscar as well.

In a rephrased manner: Dexter chokes Miguel by looping a wire around his throat. Before succumbing to death, Miguel shouts, “Do you truly believe our business is over? Do you think this is the end of it all? Far from it!” To which Dexter retorted, “It certainly ends for you.”

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but feel a chill run down my spine when I think about the grisly scene unfolding in that eerie graveyard: Miguel’s lifeless body, with chunks of flesh missing. It’s chilling to consider that The Skinner, our notorious villain, is once again the prime suspect. This gruesome murder only adds fuel to the terror he spreads and deepens my obsession with the twisted tales he weaves.

WALTER KENNEY – THE TOOTH FAIRY

Dexter's MOST memorable murders (including his own death!) as Michael C. Hall makes shock return as serial killer for Resurrection reboot

In the sixth season’s episode titled “Smokey and the Bandit,” Dexter delves into the case of a murdered prostitute whose lateral incisor was fractured, and she was left abandoned on some rocks.

As a lifestyle enthusiast delving into the intriguing world of true crime, I ponder if perhaps this chilling mystery might be the handiwork of an elusive ’80s serial killer – a man once infamously known as ‘The Tooth Fairy’. This enigmatic figure has long held my fascination.

Dexter speculates that the murderer may have moved to Miami for a peaceful retirement, so he investigates the local retirement community. Notably, ex-resident of Oregon, Kenney (played by Ronny Cox), matches this description.

During a round of golf, he develops a friendship with Walter and also offers to chauffeur him for various tasks – such as buying beer and mature publications – prior to Walter visiting a storage facility.

Dexter breaks into the unit and finds a box of teeth – confirming he is the killer – but laments that this is the same serial killer he idolized.

In the course of his investigation, Walter uncovers Dexter’s true identity (which is Dexter) and learns that he is employed at Miami Metro – subsequently leading him into a trap, where he draws a weapon and confronts Dexter while driving.

Dexter's MOST memorable murders (including his own death!) as Michael C. Hall makes shock return as serial killer for Resurrection reboot

Dexter crashes his car into a fence and disarms Walter – before tying him to a bed  in his room.

Walter gleefully admits to his murder, explaining that the incident where he left a deceased body on the deputy sheriff’s lawn was an unfortunate blunder caused by intoxication – leaving Dexter disheartened.

Walter warns Dexter that he will end up exactly like him, but Dexter refuses to believe it.

Walter expresses his joy that his son will discover he’s the infamous Tooth Fairy Killer, yet Dexter decides to silence Walter by smothering him with a pillow, giving the impression of a heart attack. In doing so, Dexter effectively conceals his murderous past along with Walter.

RAY SPELTZER

In an unexpected turn of events, Dexter finds himself at a disadvantage, as the ruthless serial killer Ray Speltzer (played by Matt Gerald) captures him. Ray then confines Dexter within a cruel labyrinth, intending to chase and potentially eliminate him.

In the seventh season’s episode titled “Buck The System,” a character named Speltzer, fresh out of parole, makes his entrance. Dexter suspects that this man may have successfully evaded punishment for committing not one, but two murders.

Deb, after learning that Dexter is a serial killer, now disagrees with him on the most effective way to handle Speltzer.

In an effort to prove something to Deb, Dexter implies that Speltzer might be preparing to commit another murder since he’s recently shaved his head clean.

Spetzter entices a waitress to his home, switches off the lights, and confines her within his labyrinth – all while chasing her wearing a minotaur-style helmet.

Deb visits Speltzer’s home unexpectedly, only to be assaulted by him since he had previously murdered his guest, Dexter intervenes and rescues her.

After Speltzer’s arrest and charging, based on his confession, the case was dismissed due to uncertainties about the legality of the arrest.

In an attempt to transform Speltzer’s recreational vehicle into a lethal setting, Dexter gets knocked unconscious by Speltzer. Upon regaining consciousness, he finds himself in a grim labyrinth with a note that reads simply: ‘Flee.’

He is then chased by Speltzer who hunts him through a room of mannequins and swings an axe at him.

Recognizing that Speltzer was attempting to push him lower, Dexter instead chose to ascend and manage his escape by leaping from the rooftop.

In a later development, he encounters Speltzer at the cemetery, placing a message on an uncovered grave that reads ‘Remain’. Then, he knocks Speltzer unconscious using a shovel.

In an unexpected turn of events, I found myself bound and awake within the cold, stark confines of a crematorium. A wicked laughter echoed through the chamber as Dexter taunted me, exclaiming in surprise, “Blimey! Blimey!” – his own version of the phrase you might be more familiar with.

As a devoted adherent, I ignite the flames within the cremation chamber prior to impaling Speltzer with a sharp stake. Subsequently, I transfer his lifeless body into the inferno.

He meets Deb outside and points out the smoke arising from the crematory as Speltzer.

Deb reveals she feels ‘glad’ that Speltzer is dead.

Dexter's MOST memorable murders (including his own death!) as Michael C. Hall makes shock return as serial killer for Resurrection reboot

In the eighth season, I found myself confronting my ultimate adversary – the twisted serial killer known as The Brain Surgeon, who unleashed chaos upon Miami.

The events progress as Dexter arrives at the crime site, where a man was fatally shot and discarded. Upon investigation, it’s disclosed that the victim’s skull had been sawed through and a piece of his brain removed.

In a different phrasing, Miami Metro enlists the services of neuropsychiatrist Dr. Evelyn Vogel (portrayed by Charlotte Rampling), who discloses that the perpetrator removed the anterior insular cortex – the region responsible for empathetic feelings in the brain.

Later on, it’s disclosed that she was the one who developed the code which Dexter learned from his father Harry. She even goes as far as labeling him a ‘flawless psychopath.’

She seeks assistance from Dexter, as a brain fragment was found on her doorstep, leading her to believe that one of the psychopaths she had treated in the past might be the murderer.

With each passing operation, The Brain Surgeon adds another victim to his tally, and potential suspects are dismissed one by one. It turns out that the perpetrator is none other than Daniel, the biological son of Vogel.

At the age of 14, Daniel tragically took the life of his younger brother Richard in a swimming pool. Overwhelmed with grief, their parents committed Daniel to a mental health facility. Years passed, and it was assumed that Richard had perished, as Daniel later set fire to the psychiatric institution where he was being held.

It turns out that the character Daniel has adopted the new identity of Oliver Saxon, played by Darri Ingolfsson, and he has already entered Dexter’s life – having previously been in a relationship with Dexter’s neighbor Cassie (Bethany Joy Lenz), who was discovered to have been viciously murdered.

Later, he cold-bloodedly kills his own mother in Dexter’s presence, then proposes a temporary ceasefire and parting paths.

In this situation, Oliver endangers Dexter’s loved ones, forcing Dexter to feign agreement. Yet, Dexter ultimately exposes Oliver to the authorities by revealing his identity and distributes evidence of his killings to the press.

In a swift move, Oliver hurries towards Dexter’s residence with the intention of causing harm, only to find himself ensnared by both Dexter and Deb. However, instead of escaping, he is subdued by Dexter after being given a sedative.

In the moment before Dexter was about to take Oliver’s life, he found himself yearning instead for the company of Hannah (played by Yvonne Strahovski). This revelation made him question if killing Oliver was necessary anymore, so he chose to let Deb apprehend him instead and escaped to Argentina, leaving Oliver behind.

However, Deputy Marshal Clayton (Kenny Johnson) trailed Deb to the hospital. Upon arrival, he discovered Oliver bound. In a twist of events, Oliver fatally stabbed Clayton and subsequently shot Deb in the abdomen as she hastily entered the room.

He goes to the hospital to finally kill Deb but is arrested.

Regardless of having a promising opportunity for healing, unfortunately, Deb sustained a stroke while hospitalized. Subsequent assessments confirmed that she would remain in a persistent vegetative state, incapable of speaking, breathing independently, or thinking. This devastating news left Dexter heartbroken.

Following Oliver’s questioning by Batista and Detective Quinn, Dexter pays him a visit in his cell and confesses that he feels guilty – not Oliver – about what transpired with Debra.

During a significant showdown in the final scene of “Remember The Monsters”, Oliver queries Dexter, “Is that the reason you’ve come here?” To which Dexter responds ominously, indicating a pen on the table between them, “No, I came to end you with this pen.”

In a swift reaction, Oliver grabs a pen intending to attack Dexter, yet Dexter, foreseeing his action, swiftly moves aside, resulting in Oliver merely striking Dexter on the shoulder.

Subsequently, he swiftly removes the pen, strikes Oliver forcefully, and thrusts the pen into Oliver’s neck, causing him to lose a significant amount of blood on the floor.

Afterward, Dexter pretends to be upset and summons the police. The video evidence shows that the act seems like self-defense, and thus, Dexter escapes punishment. But since Deb is nearly unconscious, Oliver demolishes Dexter’s entire universe.

Dexter's MOST memorable murders (including his own death!) as Michael C. Hall makes shock return as serial killer for Resurrection reboot
Dexter's MOST memorable murders (including his own death!) as Michael C. Hall makes shock return as serial killer for Resurrection reboot

Approximately eight years following the uproar triggered by the eighth season finale of Dexter, where the main character transitioned into a solitary lumberjack, Dexter: New Blood aimed to rectify past mistakes and ultimately bring an end to the story’s central figure.

In Iron Lake, New York, a man named Dexter (disguised as Jim Lindsey) finds himself taken aback when his long-lost son, Harrison (Jack Alcott), unexpectedly appears after an absence of ten years. Harrison had never contacted him before this moment. Dexter works at a wilderness sporting gear store there.

It comes to light that Harrison, as an infant, witnessed the murder of his mother at the hands of Trinity. This traumatic event apparently triggered the emergence of a Dark Passenger within him. After a decade, Dexter’s compulsion for swiftly killing resurfaces as well.

While probing into serial killer Kurt Caldwell, who ultimately meets his end at the hands of Dexter, Dexter finds himself ensnared in a maze of deception. His ex-lover, a former Police Chief, uncovers his duplicity, eventually discerning that he is not only a murderer but also living under an assumed identity.

Later on, he himself cracks the code he had set and kills Sergeant Logan (Alano Miller), an action taken to evade capture, even though there was no provocation for the kind of retribution Dexter typically metes out.

As he and Harrison prepare to flee, Harrison rows with Dexter over Logan’s murder.

It becomes clear to them that it’s essential for Dexter’s death for Harrison to lead a regular life, so he devises a plan to fake his own demise.

He tells Harrison to aim the rifle at his heart and fire, hoping this act will help him make amends for his shortcomings as a father and liberate his child.
