Dexter: Resurrection’s Latest Twist Fixed A Problem I Had With The Serial Killer’s Club, And It Has Me Thrilled For Future Seasons

Head’s up! What I’m about to share is a spoiler from the gripping episode “The Kill Room Where It Happens” in Dexter: Resurrection. Catch it on Paramount+, but beware, stream at your peril!

In the revival of “Dexter: Resurrection,” the narrative has been boldly crafted, particularly with Leon Prater assembling a group of serial killers. However, my one disappointment lies in the fast-paced storytelling, which seemed to swiftly eliminate the new characters by the Bay Harbor Butcher. Thankfully, this recent episode slowed things down, and I’m eagerly anticipating where the plot will lead from here.

Following the elimination of the Gemini Killers, Dexter was determined to eliminate the last one from his list. However, it seems like he won’t get the chance in the recent episode, but I’m eagerly looking forward to seeing what direction future seasons will take after this intriguing turn of events.

Al, The Ponytail Killer, Escaped Dexter’s Wrath

Dexter had arranged to eliminate Al and sever connections with Leon Prater’s club, yet his plot was foiled – surprisingly enough – by the musical ‘Hamilton’. Al, on the other hand, was thrilled about getting Broadway tickets for ‘Hamilton’, but abandoned the show during the interval once he discovered it was a rap music production.

The action could have potentially spared The Ponytail Killer, as Dexter was poised outside the theater, intending to dose him and transport him to his hidden kill room in a nearby tattoo parlor. However, when Al failed to appear, Dexter discovered he had left early and was already in Hoboken. Thus, Dexter told “Red” they would meet again next year, ensuring that their paths wouldn’t cross in Wisconsin due to his preference to maintain his murderous life apart from his family.

Will Eric Stonestreet Return As A Major Character In A Future Season?

Although Dexter felt disappointed he wouldn’t catch the Pony Tail Killer, I was excited to find Eric Stonestreet’s character survive in “Dexter: Resurrection”. With numerous intriguing killers portrayed by skilled actors meeting their end this season, I had accepted that Al would be next. But witnessing his escape leaves me hopeful we might see him again, perhaps even starring in his own season.

More On Dexter: Resurrection

In a new development, Dexter’s return has set up a confrontation with his old friend Angel Batista. Here are two possibilities I envision for how this story might conclude:

1. After years apart, they may find common ground and reconcile, with Dexter choosing to turn himself in or seek help for his dark past, thanks to Batista’s influence.
2. The tension between them could escalate into an intense showdown, potentially resulting in one of them being seriously injured or even meeting a tragic end.

The way Dexter’s story concludes in relation to Leon Prater is a significant question mark now. The recent episode has placed Prater in a precarious position as it appears Charley has unmasked “Ronald Schmidt,” revealing him to not be who they believed. It’s uncertain how much Charley knows, considering we’ve only seen that Prater intentionally ambushed Dexter with Harrison at dinner.

It’s possible that Prater is displeased with Dexter, yet I believe revealing the truth could lead to a situation where he starts assisting the serial killer in realizing his goal of eliminating other criminals. With Prater’s extensive resources at his disposal, Dexter could travel to various locations such as Wisconsin and beyond, targeting some of the most notorious serial killers within this fictional universe. Given that Batista might be wrongly accused of being the Bay Harbor Butcher, I can envision a scenario where Dexter continues his work with Prater without having to concern himself about Harrison.

Dexter: Resurrection” keeps airing on Paramount+ every Friday and Showtime on Sundays at 8:00 p.m. ET. As autumn approaches, don’t forget to glance at the 2025 TV lineup to see what other shows are coming soon!
