Dexter: Resurrection Set Up A Showdown With Angel Batista, And I Have Two Theories On How This Will End

In the series “Dexter: Resurrection,” despite working alongside the Bay Harbor Butcher for multiple decades, Angel Batista never managed to uncover his true identity. However, he remains steadfast in his efforts to solve the case once and for all. The seventh episode concluded with an uncomfortable encounter in New York City, following Dexter’s escape from Iron Lake. It now appears that a confrontation between the two seems imminent.

Regrettably, it seems likely that David Zayas’ character Angel may not make it past the first season of the 2025 TV schedule for Dexter. Although Dexter is known for his violent tendencies, I find it unlikely that he would kill a long-time friend. I have developed two possible scenarios regarding who might ultimately be responsible for taking down the Miami detective.

Theory #1: Charley Will Kill Batista

It’s clear that Leon Prater wields significant influence in New York City and has a wide network of connections. If Angel gets too close to “Red” and threatens to apprehend him, it seems likely that he will delegate the issue to Charley. After all, Prater previously assigned Charley to eliminate Mia Lapierre, so as to keep his group of serial killers hidden from those outside of his control.

Given the significant development in Dexter’s relationship with Red in the recent episode, it seems plausible that Prater will delve deeper into Dexter’s life. He might just uncover Dexter as the true Bay Harbor Butcher, allowing Batista to be addressed before Dexter has a chance to handle it himself.

Recently, Dexter has exhibited an excessive sense of self-assurance following several successful takedowns of killers. Despite labeling Gareth as an egomaniac, it seems he may have underestimated the dangerous potential of his wealthy patron when driven to safeguard matters that align with their best interests.

Theory #2: The New York Ripper Will Kill Batista

If you haven’t been following, an intriguing theory about Dexter: Resurrection has been gaining traction online, proposing that Dexter’s landlord, Blessing Kamara, is the New York Ripper. This idea appeals to me quite a bit and I’m leaning towards believing it could be valid.

Blessing appears to be a devoted family man, yet there have been occasional instances suggesting a shadowy side may lurk within him. Essentially, he strives for the virtuousness Dexter exhibits, given his secretive killer nature, and succeeds in a way that The Bay Harbor Butcher could envy if aware.

This season seems to emphasize themes centered around father-son dynamics, with James Remar once again portraying Harry in the series Dexter: Resurrection. Given that Blessing is the only character who has been shown as a father this season, it appears plausible that his role could significantly contribute to the overall storyline.

Although we don’t possess definite proof yet that Blessing is the New York Ripper, his encounter with Angel at least provides a link between them. If Blessing were indeed the killer, this meeting explains how they might have come into contact. It seems reasonable, from a narrative perspective, to speculate that there could be some significant relationship between these two characters in the story.

Additionally, there are intriguing hypotheses suggesting that the character of the New York Ripper might serve as a foreshadowing for plot developments in Season 2 of Original Sin.
