Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 Casts Brian Cox as New York Ripper

In Season 2 of Dexter, the show will introduce the New York Ripper, a mysterious and dangerous character. Viewers will finally see who’s behind the name, after the character was hinted at in Season 1.

According to reports, Brian Cox, known for his role in Succession, will be joining Season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection as Dom Framt, also called the New York Ripper. The character is a former serial killer who once terrorized the city. While he’s no longer actively killing, he’s now found a way to stay infamous by continuing to harass those who survived his crimes.

Brian Cox is a highly acclaimed actor with a diverse career. He first gained attention for playing a chilling serial killer in the 1986 film Mindhunter, and more recently won a Golden Globe and earned several Emmy nominations for his role in the popular HBO series Succession. He previously won an Emmy for the miniseries Nuremberg, and has appeared in numerous other television shows including Frasier, Deadwood, and Penny Dreadful. Beyond television, Cox has also had a successful film career, appearing in movies like X2, Troy, Coriolanus, and several films in the Bourne series.

Many believe Clancy Brown, playing a character named Cox, will be the main villain in the second season of Dexter: Resurrection. The first season subtly introduced him through a file found in Leon Prater’s possessions. Now that Prater is gone, Cox will likely become Dexter’s new enemy. Some fans speculate Cox could be Dexter’s most challenging opponent since the iconic Trinity Killer from the original Dexter series.

The first season of Dexter: Resurrection, with ten episodes, launched last summer and proved to be a hit. Showtime quickly renewed the series for a second season. The premiere attracted a record number of viewers, exceeding the debut numbers for the prequel, Dexter: Original Sin. Critics and audiences alike loved Resurrection, giving it a 95% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 90% audience score.

Following the conclusion of Dexter: New Blood, Dexter: Resurrection shows that Dexter Morgan actually lived. The story finds him reconnecting with his son, Harrison, in New York City, and quickly falling back into his pattern of vigilantism. In the first season, Dexter goes undercover to investigate a secret group of serial killers led by the wealthy Leon Prater. At the same time, Angel Batista travels to New York City determined to uncover Dexter’s secrets, but his investigation doesn’t go as planned.

Dexter: Resurrection is streaming on Paramount+ with Showtime.
