The irony lies in the fact that all the evidence implicating Doakes actually stemmed from his own pursuit of evidence against Dexter.

In a cruel twist of fate, Dexter’s blood slides were discovered secreted away in the trunk of Doakes’ car in another nation, further incriminating him. This discovery essentially confirmed his guilt. Regrettably, Doakes met his end in a fire set by Lila before he could reveal what he had uncovered or compel Dexter to confess, something he was determined to do at one point.

Maria LaGuerta, a friend of Doakes, never trusted him as the killer. In reality, Detective Frank Lundy, a renowned expert in identifying serial killers, might have been certain that Dexter was the one all along. However, the evidence against Doakes was overwhelming, making it difficult to challenge it. Although Doakes has passed away, his family continues to bear the stigma of his tarnished reputation. With Dexter being exposed, it would be gratifying to see Doakes’ family finally able to clear his name.

In the series “Dexter: New Blood,” Dexter resumed his killing spree, but he could no longer adhere to his traditional methods. Some of his actions were hasty and impulsive, and on one occasion, he was forced to burn a body. He also had to devise alternative ways to dispose of the remains. Although dumping dismembered bodies in a harbor is no longer feasible, viewers are eager for Dexter to regain some sense of his usual ritualistic practices.

This encompasses the “death chamber,” wrapped in plastic, that reappeared in “Dexter: New Blood” – the drug used to subdue and the climactic showdown. Even though it may not be as straightforward with Dexter on the run, this ritual forms an integral part of his unsettling allure.

Resurrection will involve his death again. It also seems unlikely that he would be apprehended in the end, unless this potential series finale marks the closing chapter of the story.

Of course, fans are hoping that Dexter will make it through this season of the series, one way or another. Exactly how this will transpire is yet to be determined. It’s a bit perplexing because while some believe that Dexter should face justice for his crimes, including the innocent lives he took during his reign, the show also requires him to remain unhindered.
