As more deaths occur, it becomes clear that they are interconnected. A widow mourning her loss and a former police officer join forces to unravel this mystery.

The Activated Man (VOD, Dec. 13)

A number of well-known figures from various genres will appear in this chilling supernatural movie premiering this Friday, featuring the late Tony Todd, Kane Hodder, Sean Young, among others. The narrative centers around Ors, portrayed by Jamie Costa, who is grappling with his grief following the loss of both his best friend and his beloved pet dog.

Struggling with the trauma, his grip on reality seems to shatter, leaving him puzzled about what is genuine and what is illusory. This uncertainty intensifies when a spike in murder-suicides sweeps through the city, causing Ors to ponder if it’s merely a figment of his imagination or an actual event. The movie will hit select theaters in Los Angeles and be available digitally this Friday.

Dexter: Original Sin (Paramount+ with Showtime, Dec. 13)

Dexter Morgan is back! A prequel to the award-winning Showtime series Dexter: Original Sin takes place in 1991 Miami and follows a much younger Dexter as he slowly turns into the serial killer we all know him as.

In this new series, Dexter’s unique bond with his father, Harry (portrayed by Christian Slater), will be at the forefront. Harry instructs Dexter in an ancient “Code” that channels his killing instinct towards people who truly deserve it, all while keeping him hidden from the law enforcement. Michael C. Hall reprises his role as narrator. The series initially airs on Paramount+ via their app on a Friday, and then broadcasts on television for the first time on Sunday, December 15.

Joe Bob’s Christmas Carnage (Shudder, Dec. 13)
