The latest trailer for the highly awaited sequel to The Devil Wears Prada is out, showing Anne Hathaway’s Andy and Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly together again. Fans are already calling the movie “iconic” and are excited for its release on May 1st.
Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci return for another installment, and they’re joined by new cast members including Simone Ashley, Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, BJ Novak, and Patrick Brammall.
Okay, so I was checking out the cast for the new movie, and I noticed something – Nate’s not in it. Apparently, he and Andy broke up a long time ago, like twenty years ago, and they’ve stayed broken up. Honestly, most fans aren’t even asking about him, so it’s not a huge surprise.

But Adrian Grenier, who played Nate, appears to be taking his character’s absence well.
The actor recently starred in a Starbucks commercial where he jokingly talks about not being asked to return for the next movie in the series.
What to Read Next
As you may have read, I wasn’t included in the next installment of the movie,” Grenier explains to a barista in the commercial. “But honestly, I’m okay with it. I’m doing well.”
The actor lifts a Starbucks Energy Refresher and proposes a toast: “To Nate! He made amazing sandwiches and really loved his girlfriend… well, for a while. He wasn’t flawless, but let’s remember him fondly and focus on keeping the good times rolling!”
At the end of the ad, he quips: “I mean, if they call… I’m free.”
Grenier has talked before about how fans’ views of his character have evolved. Some now see Nate as the actual villain of the movie, believing he didn’t fully support Andy.

In a 2021 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Jeremy Renner expressed his surprise at the many memes that circulated about him.
I didn’t realize it at first, but thinking back, I was probably as immature as Nate was. He was very focused on himself and didn’t make much effort to support Andy’s career; it was always about what he wanted.
After thinking things over carefully, I’ve realized they were right all along.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is released in cinemas on 1 May.
