As a long-time fan, I find myself both saddened and excited by Hideaki Itsuno’s departure from Capcom. For over three decades, he has been instrumental in creating some of the most iconic games in the industry, particularly within the Devil May Cry and Dragon’s Dogma series. His unique storytelling and character development have left an indelible mark on gaming history.
In a nutshell, the game “Devil May Cry” (released in 2008) by director Hideaki-itsuno and “Dragon’s Dogma” (released in 2006) by director/creator/visionary/prophet/seer/soothsayer/visionary/legendary/legend/master/lord/overlord/overseer/Overlord” (the character who appears throughout the series as a whole, and is primarily associated with the sub-series “Dragon’s Dogma”) have both announced their departures from Capcom after more than 30 years with the company.
Dear Ituno,
“This month marks the beginning of a fresh undertaking ‘in an unknown setting’, and it’s not specified where this setting lies. However, his intent is to design entertaining, aesthetically pleasing games that may be as memorable, or even more memorable than, the ones he has developed thus far. Kindly keep an eye out for my next endeavor!”
In 2019, we had high expectations that Itsuno could work on creating the new fighting game he envisioned with Capcom, given his past experiences with Rival Schools, Darkstalkers, and Street Fighter Alpha series. However, it seems like this collaboration won’t materialize now.
A wonderful suggestion from Itsuno (Capcom): Here’s a delicious recipe for you to try at home – it’s a game changer!
