Sandra Bullock is keeping track of her former co-star Quinton Aaron’s health. Aaron, who starred with Bullock in The Blind Side, is reportedly in critical condition and is currently on life support.
Last week, 41-year-old Aaron collapsed while climbing the stairs in his apartment. Reports indicate he was taken to the hospital with a serious blood infection.
According to a source who spoke to the Daily Mail on Monday, the actor—who co-starred with Sandra Bullock in the 2009 film ‘The Blind Side’—is facing a serious and potentially dangerous situation that isn’t being fully acknowledged.
He’s in a very serious and life-threatening situation, but his loved ones remain hopeful for his recovery.
According to a source, Aaron is currently undergoing extensive medical testing and receiving excellent care. However, his condition is serious, and recovery will be a long process.
Bullock, meanwhile, is said to be ‘aware’ and ‘monitoring’ the situation.
According to a source, Sandra knows he’s going through a difficult time and is keeping an eye on things, hoping he recovers. They haven’t spoken since they worked on the movie together.
The Daily Mail has contacted Aaron and Bullock’s representatives for comment.
In the movie The Blind Side, actor Quinton Aaron played Michael Oher, a young, homeless Black teenager who struggled in school. Sandra Bullock played Leigh Anne Tuohy, who eventually adopted him and helped change his life.
The role earned Bullock an Oscar.
According to the source, Aaron has struggled with his weight for most of his life. He lost a significant amount of weight – 200 pounds – last year, and it’s something that continues to require attention.
According to a source, if he pulls through, attention will shift to his long-term health, as the years have clearly affected him. However, it will likely be several days of worry before they have a complete picture of his condition.
A family friend recently told the Daily Mail that the actor’s sudden health problems came as a complete surprise.
According to Gina Watson, who started a GoFundMe to help him, Aaron seemed happy and cheerful just last month. Watson is the founder of Veterans Aid Network.
It’s really upsetting for us, especially because we’ve been friends for a long time,” Watson explained to the Daily Mail. “We were just all together at Christmas, actually raising money to help a family who needed it.”
We were all having a wonderful time with Quinton, laughing and singing together. It was completely shocking to learn, just a few weeks later, that he was on life support. It was truly unexpected.
Watson also mentioned that Aaron and Bullock occasionally stay in touch, and described Bullock as ‘absolutely incredible’.
When asked if any other celebrity friends had offered to help with the GoFundMe, Watson said no one had contacted him yet.
On Monday, via the GoFundMe page, Watson shared an update.
There’s good news about Quinton! He’s woken up and can feel his foot. He’s still on life support and doctors are running tests, but it’s clear he’ll need a long recovery. He’ll likely need a wheelchair and therapy to learn to walk again once he leaves the hospital. We’re so grateful for all the support and prayers everyone has sent.
At the time of this article’s publication, the fundraiser had raised over $38,000.
Watson said that all GoFundMe donations will go directly to Aaron and his family.
In a recent post, Watson explained why Veterans Aid Network is assisting Quinton. The organization is a nonprofit dedicated to helping veterans and their families during difficult times. While Quinton didn’t serve in the military, he comes from a military family, which makes him eligible for their support.
Watson and Aaron have been friends for a few years. She started to worry late last week when he stopped responding to her messages.
I contacted his wife to check on him, and she told me he was in the hospital and in critical condition, relying on life support, Watson said.
Watson suggested that Aaron’s weight loss last year may have been related to a family history of heart problems, including heart failure. Aaron had previously shared in 2023 that he had been diagnosed with congestive heart failure.
Watson explained that a key motivation for starting his weight loss journey was to address a health issue.
According to Watson, when she saw him in December, Aaron wasn’t doing very well and seemed to be having some difficulties.
As I mentioned earlier, he got involved with the Veterans Aid Network, and we were holding a Christmas fundraiser. He was in good spirits, singing and laughing, and seemed to be doing well.
We really enjoyed our time together and have been discussing future collaborations, including making plans for a summer project with the nonprofit.
Last week, Aaron woke up feeling stiff and achy, thinking he hadn’t slept well. But when the neck and back pain continued for a few days, he was walking upstairs and suddenly lost feeling in his legs, according to his wife, Margarita, in a statement to TMZ.
Margarita, a registered nurse, quickly helped the man upstairs and get him settled before calling 911. On the way to the hospital, he became in and out of consciousness, and doctors advised putting him on life support.
Aaron’s manager, Katrina Fristoe, told the Daily Mail that he is getting great medical attention and is surrounded by his family.
The family is grateful for all the kind messages and support they’ve received from fans and the media, but they ask for privacy right now. They will share more information about Aaron’s condition when he’s feeling better.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m following the news about the actor known for his incredible role as Michael Oher in ‘The Blind Side.’ It’s so concerning to hear he’s critically ill. Many of you likely remember the inspiring story – the film, and the book it was based on by Michael Lewis, followed Oher’s journey through high school and college football. It’s a story that really touched a lot of people, and we’re all hoping for a positive outcome.
In 2023, people who admired Michael Oher and enjoyed the movie based on his life were surprised to learn he was suing Leigh Ann and Sean Tuohy. Oher claimed they hadn’t legally adopted him, but instead established a conservatorship that allowed their family to profit from the film The Blind Side, while he received no compensation for his story.
The Tuohys have denied any wrongdoing. A judge terminated the conservatorship in September 2023.
Aaron recently experienced another health issue, following a hospital visit in March 2025 where he was treated for a fever and coughing up blood.
The actor had a fever and, while the exact cause wasn’t made public, TMZ reported doctors suspected he might have the flu (Type A) or pneumonia.
Oh my gosh, you guys, I was SO worried about Aaron! He had to miss that event in Orange County, which was devastating, but he just gave an update and he’s actually doing better! He said the antibiotics and IV fluids the doctors gave him really worked, and he’s not coughing up blood anymore! I’m seriously breathing a sigh of relief. It’s just amazing to hear he’s on the mend!
The Left Behind actor had also battled a serious upper respiratory infection in 2019.
In October, Aaron shared that he was feeling both grateful and overwhelmed after losing an amazing 200 pounds.
The 6ft8in actor said he was down to 375 pounds, after once weighing in at 575 pounds in 2012.
The actor from The Blind Side explained that seeing his high weight made him realize he was dangerously unhealthy and heading towards a premature death.
The actor started using the weight-loss drug Ozempic in 2024, but he had to stop because he experienced an allergic reaction to the injection.
When Aaron stopped taking his medication, he started intermittent fasting as a way to lose weight.
Okay, so he totally transformed! He started eating way healthier, ditching all the sugary and carb-loaded stuff. And get this – he joked that the real workout was… well, let’s just say things are very active with his wife, Margarita! Honestly, it’s amazing to see how dedicated he is, in every way!
In 2023, Aaron shared with the American Heart Association that he had previously received a diagnosis of congestive heart failure.
Because several of his family members had heart disease or heart failure, he was especially vulnerable to developing the condition himself.
He was hospitalized three times in 2020: once with Covid-19 and twice because of heart failure.
Then, in 2021, he was diagnosed with diabetes, which inspired him to kickstart his health journey.
