Following some anticipation, Dev Hynes has officially unveiled that a new Blood Orange album is in store for us, as hinted through recent releases and a tour announcement.

In a recent Instagram post, Hynes announced that he has created a new album titled “Essex Honey.

The ensuing quiet was unnerving. I recall being in my home several months later, playing Sufjan’s ‘Fourth of July’ on my computer. It reminds me of how soothing music can be. The pain I had endured, coupled with this sensation, transported me to the start,” read the text at the bottom of the screen as images of London’s scenery flickered across, alternating with clips of Hynes working diligently.

When you come across tunes that resonate with you, they bring a sense of peace, prompting you to attempt recreating them. That’s how I picked it up, and now, after some time off, I have an album prepared. The album touches upon themes like grief, England, youth, and music.

This work includes collaborations with artists such as Cæcilie Trier, Caroline Polachek, Tirzah, Mabe Fratti, Mustafa, Turnstile’s Brendan Yates, Lorde, Eva Tolkin, Ian Isiah, Liam Benzvi, Tariq Al-Sabir, Zadie Smith, Charlotte Dos Santos, Daniel Caesar, The Durutti Column, and many others.
