Details From Diddy’s First Christmas In Prison Include Visit From Son And More, As Legal Team’s New Appeal Calls Judge ‘Thirteenth Juror’

Sean “Diddy” Combs spent his first Christmas in prison this year, over a year after his initial arrest. He was held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn from September 2024 to October 2025, and while facing a potential release date in May 2028, he did have some holiday cheer. His son visited him, and his legal team filed new appeals.

How Diddy Spent Christmas Day In Prison

In late October 2025, Diddy, the former rapper and business executive, was moved to FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey, following his sentencing to over four years in prison. A jury had convicted him of violating the Mann Act. He spent his first Christmas in prison with a visit from his son, Justin Combs.

TMZ reports that Diddy’s son, Justin Combs, visited him at Fort Dix prison on Christmas Day. They spent time together talking and reconnecting, but weren’t allowed to exchange gifts, as that would have broken prison rules.

In addition to sharing recent news, Engelmayer stated that both Combs men spent time praying and discussing how to cope with difficult situations. They also reportedly spoke fondly of other family members and talked about the importance of making amends for past mistakes by focusing on positive actions moving forward.

Despite King Combs, Diddy’s son, expressing optimism about his father being released before the holidays, Diddy himself didn’t actually go to the prison.

Diddy’s visit with his son seemed to go well for both of them. Afterwards, on Christmas Day, Diddy participated in a small, private religious service with other inmates at FCI Fort Dix. He’s always been a spiritual person, though not formally connected to any particular religion.

Recent reports detail a prison visit from Jeffrey Combs, following news about Diddy’s Christmas meal plans with fellow inmates. The holiday menu was reportedly a change from Thanksgiving dinner, but similar to what he received at the Brooklyn facility, with lunch being the most appealing part of the meal.

Diddy’s Legal Team Calls Judge A “Thirteenth Juror” In Newest Appeal

Diddy’s lawyers recently filed another appeal asking for his sentence to be reduced or overturned. This latest filing differs from previous ones because his lead attorney, Alexandra Shapiro, directly criticized the judge, Arun Subramanian, calling his 50-month sentence excessively harsh and suggesting he acted like an extra member of the jury.

According to TMZ, Diddy’s lawyer argues the judge improperly considered allegations of more serious crimes when sentencing him. The lawyer claims this violates her client’s constitutional rights, as he was previously found not guilty of racketeering and sex trafficking. She believes the sentence should have been based solely on the charges he was convicted of – two counts related to transporting people for prostitution – and that he deserves a less severe punishment.

Federal prosecutors haven’t officially responded to the case yet, but they have several months to do so before it reaches an appeals court.
