Destiny’s Child reunite! Beyonce and Kelly Rowland hit Broadway to watch Michelle Williams in Death Becomes Her
As a dedicated follower of their journey and a witness to their incredible rise, I must say that seeing Destiny’s Child reunite yet again brings me immense joy. It’s like revisiting old friends who never seem to age, even though it’s been more than two decades since they initially formed.
On a special occasion on Friday evening, the trio from Destiny’s Child, specifically Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland, attended a performance of Death Becomes Her on Broadway, to support their fellow bandmate, Michelle Williams.
Following the captivating act of their ex-bandmate, aged 45, portraying the spellbinding character Viola van Horn in the stage version of the 1992 movie with the same title, the threesome graciously struck a heartwarming pose together backstage.
In a picture posted by Beyoncé and Rowland (both aged 43), they are embracing Williams, who was still resplendent in a shimmering sequin dress.
On that particular event, Beyoncé donned a baseball hat, a white coat, a grey mini-dress, black spectacles, and multiple glitzy rings on her hands.
Meanwhile, Rowland stunned in a sleeveless black dress and long furry jacket.
Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, was also in the audience.
Rowland posted a sweet congratulatory message to Williams on her Instagram Story, in which she wrote: ‘Cheers on a SENSATIONAL premiere night! We are all SO PROUD OF YOU!!’
Furthermore, Knowles shared a backstage photo featuring Williams, accompanied by an affectionate comment praising her stage presence.
Last night, I watched the latest Broadway production of “Death Becomes Her” starring Michelle Williams. She was phenomenal in her role – her voice was captivating, she looked stunning, and she truly brought the character to life. Although I enjoyed the movie, the stage version surpasses it. I highly recommend going to see it on Broadway, Knowles wrote in her post.
Afterward, she posted on Instagram expressing that Death Becomes Her is among her top five favorite Broadway productions. From the costumes to the dance routines, the singing, and the stage design, it was exceptional.
‘I will go back many times!’ Knowles told her 4.1 million Instagram followers.
Back in the groove of the late ’90s and early 2000s, I couldn’t help but be a devoted fan to the legendary trio, Destiny’s Child – an unstoppable force that ruled the music scene!
Back when I was just a kid of nine, before we became the legendary powerhouse that is Destiny’s Child, none other than Rowland and Queen B herself started harmonizing together, igniting a spark that would eventually light up the world with their incredible talent!
Their band was, ultimately, formed in 1990, although they did not find commercial success until the release of their 1998 track No, No, No.
Afterward, the band produced numerous successful singles such as Lose My Breath, Survivor, and Independent Woman, along with some more tunes.
In 2006, the members of Destiny’s Child decided it was time for them to pursue individual paths in their careers, leading to the group’s separation.
Over the span of fifteen years, the band received nominations for a grand total of fourteen Grammy Awards.
In 2001, the band ended up winning two Grammys: one for the Best R&B Performance by a Vocal Duo or Group, and another for the Best R&B Song.
Destiny’s Child has reunited on several occasions, including the Super Bowl XLVII halftime show.
In 2018’s Coachella Festival, Beyoncé was the headliner while the successful musicians performed together on the same stage.
In May, Beyoncé’s mom, Tina Knowles, referred to Rowland as her third daughter.
Reflecting back on my memories shared with the Today show hosts, I couldn’t help but reminisce about Queen B herself, Beyoncé. As a young girl, she was incredibly reserved, even a little timid. And just like many of us fans, her journey wasn’t always easy. She faced a bit of bullying during her formative years. But as we all know now, that shy, bullied girl has blossomed into an unstoppable force, gracing stages and captivating our hearts worldwide!
Through the years, Beyoncé and Rowland have maintained a strong friendship and consistently stood by each other during their diverse careers.
She stated, ‘Like draws like,’ she explained. ‘I am radiant and golden light. Therefore, I don’t believe one person’s light can dim another’s. In fact, it reveals their own lack of self-understanding when others try to diminish someone else’s glow. So, I no longer let anyone else darken my shine — not even Beyoncé. For I recognize that she is a beacon too, but so am I.’
2022 saw Rowland pondering over the fact that they’ve become like a ‘shining pair’ and acknowledging the strong bond between them, which almost feels like a family tie now.
‘We’re there for each other’s children’s births,’ she said during an interview with Hot 97.
