As someone who’s been there since the very beginning, witnessing the birth of Destiny and bearing witness to its evolution over these past ten years, I can honestly say that this anniversary is a monumental milestone for me personally. The memories, the friendships, and the countless hours spent traversing the cosmos in search of adventure are etched deeply into my gaming consciousness.
Today is the tenth anniversary of the initial release of Destiny, igniting Bungie’s epic sci-fi MMO journey. To honor this occasion, you can acquire some “remembered” armors within the game and catch up on what lies ahead for Destiny 2.
Under the project name Codename Frontiers, we’re planning for two mid-sized expansion packs and four significant free upgrades, rolled out every year. The goal is to elevate your gaming experience by embarking on a multi-year narrative, offering a non-linear storyline, more systemic advancements, and substantial enhancements to primary gameplay aspects and rewards, as stated in the announcement.
Starting next summer with Project Code Apollo, we’ve got some exciting things brewing! Until then, there are some 10-year anniversary festivities to take care of. This includes a fresh line of armor for each class in Destiny 2, designed based on the initial ideas from Destiny 1. You can discover these new armor sets scattered around the Tower and The Lost City, Pale Heart. Additionally, in Destiny 2: The Final Shape, you can earn the ‘Legend’ title by accomplishing various tasks.
Obtaining the ‘Legend’ title before September 24th offers early access to the Bungie Rewards exclusive NERF LMTD Destiny 2 Ace of Spades Blaster, a week prior to its general release on October 8th. The package includes the in-game ornament for the Ace of Spades, which can also be acquired individually from the Eververse store. In addition, Bungie is collaborating with ArtStation to present the ‘Bungie 10 Year Destiny Art Blast’, a showcase displaying artwork from 67 artists, as part of their 10-year anniversary celebration for Destiny.
Below, you can take a look at the Destiny 2 roadmap that extends to spring 2026. Within this timeframe, Codename Apollo covers the game in 2025, while Codename Behemoth picks up from winter 2025 and continues the storyline.
