Destiny 2’s Titans to change forever in Episode Heresy after Bungie massively nerfs Consecration
Titans will need to think a little more about their buildcrafting for Episode: Heresy.
In the upcoming Destiny 2 Episode (Heretic’s Arrival), Bungie has started revealing changes that will be implemented with the February 4 content drop. Notably, subclass updates are on the agenda, and one of the significant alterations includes a 55% reduction in the damage output of the well-liked Titan ability, Consecration.
After The Final Shape, Consecration gained significant popularity and found its place in almost every Prismatic Titan construction. Given the relative weakness of other Titan skills, Consecration-centric builds dominated PvE gameplay. But with these builds ruling the roost, what new strategies might Titans adopt now?
Bungie gives Titans several buffs to counteract Consecration nerf
The upcoming third post-The Final Shape episode for Destiny 2, titled Heresy, is receiving a warm welcome as Bungie reveals the modifications that will be introduced alongside the episode in their weekly update. The exciting new installment will debut on February 4th, offering players fresh subclass Aspects, the Sundered Doctrine dungeon, and numerous balance adjustments.
Here are the revised descriptions for the three aspects, utilizing simpler language:
1. Hunter Aspect “On The Prowl” (Void): This aspect introduces several fresh Void-related keywords and powers associated with Heresy.
2. Titan Aspect Storm’s Keep (Arc): You will find new Arc-based keywords and abilities that come with Heresy incorporated into this aspect.
3. Warlock Aspect “Ionic Sentry” (Arc): This aspect includes a set of fresh Arc-related keywords and powers tied to the expansion called Heresy.
Nevertheless, a significant modification to the Titan’s Consecration skill has overshadowed other aspects, resulting in a 55% reduction in both scorch wave and slam wave damage output. Despite this, the ignition damage remains substantial. It is unlikely that the Consecration ability will be the go-to choice for Solar and Prismatic builds anymore.
As an avid fan, I can’t help but share the insights Bungie, the brilliant minds behind Destiny 2, have revealed. They acknowledged that Consecration was overperforming in relation to its impact, so they made a decision to adjust it. However, they didn’t want to diminish the thrill of delivering two waves onto a target, thus they preserved its enhanced Ignition damage bonus. Instead, they decided to lessen the wave damage to strike a balance.
The developers of Destiny 2 mentioned that they might need to tweak the damage caused by Consecration ignition in future updates. This means they will assess the effectiveness of this ability early on during the Heresy event, and then make any necessary changes later. For Titans, particularly those specializing in the Prismatic subclass, it marks a significant shift as many have been forced to use Consecration due to its limited viability compared to other options.
Instead of strengthening other subclass abilities as compensation, Bungie is making adjustments to the Unbreakable Aspect specifically. These adjustments include reducing the amount of energy used for each shield and boosting both its offensive and defensive capabilities by enhancing its damage output and absorption.
As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to share that my beloved Arc Titan is receiving a significant upgrade! Now, Juggernaut stands stronger than ever, absorbing more damage while it’s active. Plus, Ballistic Slam is getting an exciting boost, not only dealing more damage but also intertwining with the innovative Bolt Charge mechanic. Can’t wait to feel the power surge in my gaming sessions!
Past is Prologue event to close out Episode: Revenant
Prior to the commencement of Heresy, Destiny 2 gamers will receive a final transfer for Episode: Revenant during the “Past is Prologue” event at the Drifter. In a manner similar to Riven’s Wishes, players will collect quests from the Drifter and earn Bento Tokens, which can be exchanged for various rewards.
Leading the list are some coveted god roll weapons like the Cloudstrike Exotic sniper rifle, high-tier Artifice armor with impressive stats, and valuable enhancement resources. Additionally, players can obtain the Chatterwhite shader, a fan-favorite design from Destiny 1 that is making a comeback in the upcoming sequel.
The upcoming event connects the ending of The Revenant Act 3 with the commencement of Heresy, starting post the regular weekly reset on January 21st. Here is a comprehensive chart detailing the rewards and the corresponding Bento Tokens required for each:
