Destiny 2 devs disable broken Lord of Wolves hours before Sundered Doctrine dungeon launch
Lord of Wolves is just one weapon disabled for this weekend’s race.
The start of a new season in Destiny 2 often brings another overpowered Exotic weapon, and true to form, shortly after the launch of the Sundered Doctrine dungeon race, Bungie has temporarily disabled the Lord of Wolves in Destiny 2 because players found it was causing too much damage.
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled that the Sundered Doctrine World First race kicks off later today! However, us Guardians must conquer it sans the Lord of Wolves, as it seems to have received an overzealous boost with Episode: Heresy.
Yet another bugged Exotic cops the banhammer before dungeon race
This week, players plunged into the latest Episode: Heresy, enjoying the fresh content and modifications it offered. In no time at all, guards took turns trying out the updated Lord of Wolves – revealing the level of damage its Exotic shotgun is now capable of inflicting.
As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled about the updates on my beloved Lord of Wolves this season! Not only has its Exotic catalyst been revamped, but now it packs a Solar Scorch punch when fired while aiming down sights and taking out enemies. However, what truly sets it apart is the electrifying hip fire ability – just landing shots without aiming fully stacks up Scorch on my target!
Stacking the Scorch setup resulted in an abundance of Ignition blasts, and when combined, it transformed into a fearsome fire-breathing monster reminiscent of the initial impact of the shotgun. Numerous videos demonstrating the “flamethrower’s” destructive power have been circulated online.
One YouTube video by SneakyBeaver showcases their group successfully annihilating this week’s dungeon final boss with ease. From The Nether’s minions to Masters in Raids, everything has been reduced to nothingness by the mighty Lord of Wolves.
I regret to inform you that players intending to utilize the OP shotgun in the upcoming dungeon this weekend won’t have the chance, as Bungie has noticed the surge in popularity of Lord of Wolves within Destiny 2 and will be disabling the weapon during Contest Mode for the duration.
Weapon perk, Exotic glaives join Lord of Wolves on dungeon disable list
Additionally, the following elements have been temporarily disabled in Sundered Doctrine’s Contest Mode: the amplification provided by the Volatile Marksman Artifact Mod, unique Exotic glaives based on character classes, and the Auto-Loading Holster weapon enhancement. Furthermore, Microcosm functionality has been suspended across all game modes due to an unrelated technical issue.
For the third time, the Lord of Wolves has been temporarily unavailable for gameplay since its debut during Forsaken. After its introduction as a shotgun in 2017, it dominated PvP play for an entire weekend, leading to a unique emblem being awarded to players who persevered through that period.
Initially, the weapon was significantly weakened, but later received an upgrade in 2022, leading to its dominance in both PvE and PvP arenas. Bungie had to disable the shotgun and reduce its power again due to its overwhelming performance, and although this seems unplanned, it’s likely that Lord of Wolves won’t make it through this week without another reduction in strength.
At minimum, Bungie is giving players permission to wield this weapon outside the dungeon, so go ahead and arm yourself with it while you still can!
