Despicable Me 4 is now available to watch at home

As a fan who has grown up with the Despicable Me franchise, I must say that the release of Despicable Me 4 at home is a delightful treat! I remember watching the first movie back in 2010 and falling in love with Gru’s antics, and now here we are, almost a decade later, with the fourth installment.

Despicable Me 4 has become available to watch at home for US fans.

Just a month ago, the newest addition to this series premiered exclusively in movie theaters. Now, it’s available digitally for viewing.

U.S. residents have the option to rent the film on Prime at a cost of $24.99, or purchase it for $29.99. As for the UK digital release, a date has not been set as of now.

In “Despicable Me 4,” the narrative follows on from the previous installments, focusing on the character of Gru (played by Steve Carrell), who was once a villain but has since reformed. However, his former classmate Maxime Le Mal (portrayed by Will Ferrell) seeks revenge, which puts Gru and his family in danger. Consequently, they are compelled to move to a secure location as a safety measure.

Upon its debut, the film received unfavorable reviews, garnering one of the lowest Rotten Tomatoes scores among the series with a 55% rating (up to 56%), placing it below “Despicable Me 3″‘s 58%. Interestingly, this score matches that of the initial “Minions” film.

In the past, the franchise featured “Minions: The Rise of Gru” in 2022, and during that period, Carell confessed that at first, he found it hard to grasp the concept of Minions.

In reflecting on our initial film production, I felt it was exceptional. The work of the animators and writers left me in awe, as they crafted a realm that was utterly distinct from any I had encountered before, as I shared with Digital Spy.

“There was a unique quality to it, slightly mysterious and grittier, and children adored it, especially the Minions. That idea was brilliantly conceived. Frankly, when I initially heard about them, I struggled to grasp their essence.”

In response to viewing the film, he expressed understanding by saying, “It perfectly aligns with my thoughts.” The actor then continued, “I believe the humor in it is genuine and kind-hearted, with an underlying theme of decency, love, and sweetness that makes it amusing.”

Based on my personal experiences, I believe that sometimes a combination of seemingly unrelated elements can create something extraordinary, much like alchemy. However, it can be challenging to predict when this will happen and when it won’t. In my journey through life, I’ve learned to embrace the uncertainty and trust in the process, even when the outcome is uncertain.

You can now purchase or rent “Despicable Me 4” digitally in the United States on Amazon, iTunes, and the Microsoft Store. At this point, a digital release for the UK has not been announced.
