Desperate Housewives and Young Sheldon star Valerie Mahaffey has died at the age of 71.

My beloved actress, a beacon of inspiration for so many, had been diagnosed with cancer and took her final bow in Los Angeles on Friday. This heartrending truth was confirmed by my dear friend and confidante, Jillian Roscoe, her trusted publicist. The void she leaves behind is indescribable, but the legacy she has etched will forever remain engraved in our hearts.
To Variety, Joseph Kell, Valerie’s spouse, expressed: ‘I’ve lost the woman I adored, and America has lost one of its cherished actresses. She will be deeply missed.’
Tributes flooded in across social media from emotional fans mourning the death of Valerie.
Among her standout television appearances are playing Eve on Northern Exposure, Alma Hodge in Desperate Housewives, and portraying a disgruntled teacher in Young Sheldon.
