Dermot O’Leary lands role in Netflix’s new Richard Curtis Christmas movie
As a long-time fan of Dermot O’Leary, I am absolutely thrilled to see him venturing into a new realm with his role in Netflix’s “That Christmas”! With his charismatic charm and captivating presence, he has always had a knack for making any show he hosts even more delightful. Now, as Mr. Chop, I have no doubt that he will bring the same magic to this festive animation.
The television host, Dermot O’Leary from “This Morning,” has secured a part in the upcoming Netflix film by Richard Curtis titled “That Christmas“.
As I immerse myself in this delightful holiday-themed production, penned by the talented mind behind “Love Actually,” I find myself engrossed in a tapestry of interwoven stories. This cinematic masterpiece features an enviable ensemble cast, graced by none other than Jodie Whittaker from “Doctor Who” and Brian Cox from “Succession.
It is now official that O’Leary will lend his voice to the character of Mr Chop, while Jordan North, known for hosting Capital Breakfast, will portray the role of Mr Hack.
According to the given description, they operate a Christmas tree stand during the winter season, tend to their hedges in the warm summer months, and seem to spend an excess of time at the local pub both in the spring and fall.
The holiday of Christmas unfolds as a collection of interconnected stories that explore themes of family, friendship, love, and solitude, as well as Santa Claus encountering an unexpected error.
The movie is directed and animated by Simon Otto, a professional who has previously contributed to “How to Train Your Dragon,” and features Fiona Shaw known for her role in “Killing Eve,” Bill Nighy from “Living,” and Lolly Adefope starring in “Ghosts.
Additionally present are individuals such as Katherine Parkinson, comedian Sindhu Vee from Sex Education, Guz Khan known for Man Like Mobeen, and Alex Macqueen, star of Hijack.
In addition, the movie includes a fresh tune from Ed Sheeran titled “Under The Tree.” Earlier, he shared that the film was so impressive it left him speechless.
The actor mentioned that after having children, they noticed a significant shortage of excellent animated Christmas films for kids. They found it truly wonderful to create and share something like this.
Earlier, Curtis expressed that stepping into the realm of animation was “an incredibly thrilling journey”, and he found it extraordinarily captivating to witness his own imagination unfold in a way that surpassed even his most daring expectations.
The film titled “Christmas” is set to make its debut at the BFI London Film Festival on October 19th. After that, it will become available for streaming globally on Netflix starting December 4th.
