Denzel Washington lashes out at autograph hunters in dramatic video: ‘What don’t you understand!’
As an ardent fan who has followed Denzel Washington’s illustrious career since his Glory days, I must admit, this recent episode left me somewhat perplexed. The man, a veritable titan of our silver screen, has always been known for his unparalleled grace and humility off-camera. This outburst, therefore, comes as a surprise, much like discovering that the statue of liberty has a secret tattoo parlor hidden in her torch.
Denzel Washington was filmed exploding at autograph hunters in New York City on Wednesday.
The Oscar-winning actor, 69, snapped at fans as he arrived at the Museum of Modern Art for a film benefit honoring Samuel L. Jackson – with the tense exchange captured in a dramatic video.
On the red carpet outside the museum, the actor from Training Day was spotted, engaging with a fan and taking a photograph together – all the while, autograph seekers could be heard calling out to him from the sidelines.
A visibly annoyed Washington went to walk inside but then turned and addressed a fan in the crowd.
Although the entire conversation remains unclear, the person in question was observed gesturing with a finger and seems to have said: “I caught what you said. It’s about expressing affection…
‘…Respecting me’ to which the fan said ‘we already do.’
Washington responded: “What part of ‘I’ll see you when I get out’ are you not grasping?
‘It’s all about expressing affection’, followed by an emphatic statement: ‘Either way, or not, there are alternative methods… but then again, we could even try doing it in two different ways!’
He then walked inside the building after the shock incident.

In early March, there were reports that Washington had a heated dispute with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs after their party night out in the year 2003.
According to a source, Denzel reportedly exclaimed, “You fail to show respect to anyone,” towards the hip-hop mogul, who is presently undergoing a trial for alleged sex trafficking offenses.
[Denzel Washington and his spouse, Pauletta Washington] were enjoying themselves until early morning with Diddy, and they allegedly witnessed something that prompted them to leave abruptly,” the source reportedly informed the publication.
During the early 2000s, both Washington and Diddy were spotted at various events together. These included the 2001 Essence Awards, the inauguration of former President Barack Obama in 2009, and two NBA matches.
It seems they had a dispute, and there’s no evidence suggesting this altercation has any connection with Diddy’s ongoing legal issues.
