Denzel Washington Confronts Photographer at Cannes in Dramatic Showdown
At the Cannes premiere of his film “Highest 2 Lowest” on Monday, Denzel Washington responded defensively to an excessively enthusiastic photographer.
In a memorable moment, the veteran actor, now 70, was videotaped admonishing one of the photographers by wagging his finger close to their face and exclaiming “Cut it out!” while engaged in a heated interaction. The incident was recorded on film.
The conversation started as Washington seemed to reprimand a photographer who smiled, chuckled, and touched the actor from Training Day on his arm.
In an angry fit, Washington pushed the photographer’s hand aside and barked “Enough! Enough, enough!” as he stormed away.
Washington, infuriated, shooed the photographer’s hand off him, demanding “Cut it out, cut it out, cut it out!” before departing hastily.
DailyMail.com has contacted representatives for Washington for comment.
On a different occasion, Washington wore a smile everywhere as he received an unexpected Honorary Palm D’or Award.

Director Spike Lee presented him with the award.
The city of Cannes adjusted its schedule to fit with Denzel’s travel plans, as this trip took place on the only day off he had during his performance of Othello in New York.
Handing the award over to Denzel, Spike said: ‘This is my brother, right here.’
‘This is a total surprise for me!’ the actor replied.
At every edition, the festival often awards one or two Honorary Palms. On the opening night of the festival, Robert De Niro was honored with one of these special awards.
The performer, having taken pictures with Spike and fellow cast member A$AP Rocky, displayed no symptoms of travel fatigue and was anticipated to depart for New York directly following the showing.
When the festival first announced its lineup last month, Highest 2 Lowest wasn’t included.

Initially, but not long after, Spike himself declared that the movie was destined for Cannes, and officials from the festival admitted they had been anticipating confirmation of Denzel’s attendance on the red carpet.
The upcoming movie “Highest Lowest” is a re-imagination of Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 film “High and Low,” initially set to hit theaters through A24 on August 22, later available for streaming on Apple TV+ from September 5.
Back in October 2024 Washington was filmed exploding at autograph hunters in New York City.
At the Museum of Modern Art, an Oscar-winning actor had a heated interaction with fans while attending a film event honoring Samuel L. Jackson. This tense moment was recorded on camera in a captivating video.
On the red carpet of the museum, the star from Training Day was spotted, engaging with a fan and taking a photo together – meanwhile, autograph seekers whispered his name off to one side.
A visibly annoyed Washington went to walk inside but then turned and addressed a fan in the crowd.
Although the conversation as a whole couldn’t be fully understood, it appeared that the actor gestured with a finger and seemed to say, “I got what you said. You were talking about expressing affection…
‘…Respecting me’ to which the fan said ‘we already do.’
Washington responded: “When I get out, I’ll meet you – seems straightforward enough, doesn’t it?
– The main idea is expressing affection.
– Or perhaps, there are different paths to demonstrate love… or maybe not, we can even combine methods!
Both sentences should convey the intended meaning while sounding natural and easy to read.
He then walked inside the building after the shock incident.
