Denise Richards Opens Up About Taking in Charlie Sheen’s Twins in Rare Remarks

Denise Richards expresses her gratitude for being able to support her ex-husband Charlie Sheen’s twin sons, whom he shares with Brooke Mueller, through a challenging period in their lives.

In 2013, Richard assumed guardianship over Bob and Max, who are currently 15 years old. This action was taken after they were taken away from Mueller’s home due to accusations that she had fostered an ‘unsafe’ living situation for them.

In a conversation with People, Denise Richards expressed her gratitude for having the opportunity to assist those in need during that particular period, as she is currently featured on the reality show “Denise Richards and Her Wild Things”.

Richards’ past issues with Sheen and Mueller have been resolved, and now she maintains a friendly rapport with them as well as their twin children.

Now, her door is always ‘open’ for Sheen, Mueller, and their sons. 

She clarified that Charlie is consistently included in holiday meals. Moreover, our house is always open, not just for Charlie but also for Brooke and her sons. In fact, I’m a firm believer of ‘the more, the merrier’. My aim is to foster harmony and tranquility among everyone.

On her latest show, Mueller frequently shows up, focusing on Richards and her family. The famous figure is a mother to Sami (20), Lola (19), whom she shares with Sheen, and Eloise (13), who she adopted in 2011. Richards tied the knot with Aaron Phypers back in 2018.

Richards spoke highly of her ex. 

She mentioned that he was helpful right from the start, as she shared with the media about Sheen, who was her husband from 2002 to 2006.

She added, “I saw the trailer and he texted me something truly delightful and encouraging. I must admit, I was quite taken aback. It genuinely touched my heart.

In the year 2008, Sheen tied the knot with Mueller; however, their union faced turbulence since they both grappled with long-standing battles against substance abuse, a matter that has been extensively chronicled.

Sheen has been sober since 2017 while Mueller in September celebrated nine months of sobriety. 

In the context of my relationship, I found myself in a challenging situation where I was apprehended under accusations of assaulting my spouse. I asserted to the authorities that I had brandished a knife against her neck and made menacing threats. However, subsequently, she attempted to retract her initial statement.

He was taken into custody for three offenses: second-degree assault (which typically refers to inflicting physical injury), threatening conduct, and criminal damage (or destroying property). Later, he secured his release on a £5,000 bond.

In the end, Sheen admitted guilt for a less severe charge of misdemeanor assault, thereby avoiding jail time. Instead, he was ordered to spend 30 days in rehab, 30 days on probation, and complete 36 hours of anger management classes, as reported by AP at that time.

After a year had passed, the pair parted ways. Some time after that, the actor experienced a string of well-known emotional breakdowns in early 2011, which eventually resulted in his dismissal from the successful television series “Two and a Half Men.

Sheen and Mueller came to a custody agreement in 2011 and finalized their divorce shortly after. 

However, it is said that Brooke had made their home environment potentially hazardous, leading to the twins being taken away from her care back in 2013.

Richards became their legal guardian while Brooke re-entered rehab for the 21st time.

After a year had passed, I found myself compelled to reach out to the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), sharing my distressing situation. My concern stemmed from the growing incidents of aggressive behavior shown by the boys in question, which had begun to affect my daughters and our beloved pets. This information is based on reports I’ve seen on TMZ.

2019 saw Mueller entering a rehabilitation center for a second time, while Sheen started sharing parental responsibilities of the twins with his ex-actress partner’s family.

Charlie spoke to The Blast regarding Mueller’s rehab stint, expressing that their twin boys were being looked after by both him and their grandparents during this time.

In my latest conversation with the media, I shared that Brooke is once more secluded, for what feels like the millionth instance, as she embarks on her journey to find the assistance she requires.

‘Together with the boys’ terrific grandparents, I help ensure that Bob and Max always have a safe and loving home, since their mother doesn’t put an end to her hasty decisions and unruly behavior.’

Sheen expressed that these fantastic young lads are in desperate need of their mother. He further added that he hopes they’ll be blessed with a mother very soon. Until that moment arrives, on every level, we’ve got them covered.

In the previous year, the longstanding child support dispute between Sheen and Mueller came to an end when Sheen petitioned for reduced payments following his filing of such a request back in 2018 regarding his children’s financial support.

In my own words, as a lifestyle advisor, I’d say: “At one point in my life, I found myself struggling to secure consistent employment opportunities within the entertainment sector, which unfortunately led to my being labeled and restricted in various aspects of this industry.” To give you an idea, I was accustomed to parting with approximately 9.5% of my annual earnings towards two specific individuals, Mueller and Richards, during that period.

In legal documents, I stated that these professional matters have led to a substantial decrease in my income.

2023 saw Sheen stating that he functions as a lone parent for his twin boys. He mentioned that their mother isn’t present in their lives as frequently at the moment.

He shared with everyone that he has primarily been taking care of his two 14-year-old sons. Their mother is currently dealing with some personal matters, which means she isn’t as involved at the moment.

While Sheen and Richards have also had a difficult relationship, they are now on good terms. 

In 2023, Charlie assured the crowd, “We’re incredibly cordial among ourselves. With all the challenges we’ve faced jointly, neither of us seems to possess the vitality for creating discord anymore.

Sheen emphasized, “What truly counts is looking after the kids.” We realized it was crucial to set aside our disagreements and prioritize the children’s welfare, as they were blameless in our disputes.

In spite of the heated arguments between the parents, the actor emphasized that his daughters remained a primary concern for him, likening these disputes to the most fiery parts of the deepest levels of hell.

He mentioned that they are incredibly approachable now, and they can handle a lot by using humor. From a bit of distance, it seems almost unbelievable that we were so worked up about that issue, he said.

Richards’ new reality show will premiere on Bravo on March 6.
